Savegame import to BG2

I have a simple question.

Can I import my Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition saves into Baldur's Gate 2?

I will finish the game in a few weeks and I don't want to wait for the BG2EE release, that's why it's an important question to me.

Oops, sorry, it looks like I posted this question in the wrong forum section. Can a mod move it to the proper place?

Yes, you can import your saves. Your items will not be imported, though. The advantage, however, is that your stats will be boosted, if you have used the attribute tomes. That means 1 more str, dec, con, int, cha and 3 more wisdom.

Edit: You can move the topic by clicking the Gear Button in the top right corner of your discussion, then "Edit" and in the page that shows up you can choose another category form the dropdown list.

    Thank you for your help!

Does it mean that I cannot import the golden pantaloons into BG2?

I dont believe I've ever had items import. I have been playing bg2 with my EE character myself, and have experienced no problems. Just import like normal. I don't know about the pantaloons.

Item imports from BG1 are handled such that the items that are "importable"(balduran's helm, claw of kazgaroth, mail of the dead among others) are specifically read from your character file and some of them will be found in Irenicus' dungeon, depending on which items you had. The pantaloons are one such item and can be found in his dungeon if you import a BG1 character which has them in it's inventory.

Any item that's not included in the import "scheme" that BG2 uses is destroyed upon game start, but you are able to pause the game during the initial loading screen and "cheat" the item deletion script by dropping them all onto the ground before unpausing. I'm unsure how that exploit handles BG1 imports however, as I've only ever tried it with BG2/TOB imports.

Edit: Also, as far as I'm aware BGEE uses the exact same item codes as BG2 does, so I don't see why there would be any problems by importing from BGEE -> BG2. I'd even hazard a guess that this was a deliberate design choice by the BGEE developers(compatibility with BG2) but don't take my word for it.

How much I wish this scheme would be possible with BG:EE->BG2:EE import)))
