Dire Charmed Death

KEGman321KEGman321 Member Posts: 22
edited January 2013 in BG:EE Bugs (v1.2)
Current behavior: If the main player character is dire charmed it is considered as them dying.

Expected behavior: Dire charm is a temporary condition, not death. The game should not end if the main character is dire charmed.

I'm not so sure this is a bug. This always happened when you got charmed and had no party.

The person who charmed you had you stab a knife in your neck after every other threat was dealt with.

It is worse when you are mazed :(

maze... I remember using that spell to protect people.
Like that one guy in the Amkethran crypts. He dies almost instantly in that fight so I just send him into a planar puzzle and when I'm done killing stuff he comes back safely and not hostile.
So for many reasons Maze>Otiluke's Resiliant Sphere

All I know is I was soloing through the game once and hadn't saved in a while and triggered a maze trap. Lamest way to "die" ever.

Actually this does seem to be a bit silly come to think of it. When you charm someone and then attack them they go back to hostile; why not the same for the enemies? Maze is sort of like ORS except better so I really don't see why that is an instakill during solo. Unless you are dominated by illithid I think it rather silly that a simple level one charm spell is an instakill. So remember people, when you become an epic godlike killing machine in ToB, watch out for level one mages; they can instakill you!

This isn't a bug. When you lose total control of your PC the game is over. On a side note: Dire Charm is a third level spell... :)

I just thought it was a bug because it doesn't happen when you have more than one person. It's my first attempt at a solo run, so I've never had it happen before. Thank you all for the feedback.

I think this should be treated as a bug since it IS rather silly, and it does not happen in vanilla BG1. Otherwise, to be fair, it should also happen when a solo character gets confused, panicked, stunned etc. as all of those conditions also cause you to temporarily loose control of your character. In fact being stunned is far worse than being charmed or indeed mazed.

@Cuv I know but there is a 1st level spell called charm person. I imagine that if enemies actually used this spell it would be a kill just like dire charm. I also wanted to make a joke.
