Kill Sarevok and continue to do advuntures? No Problem!

There is a way to continue to do adventures after defeating Sarevok and still not complete the game.

When you enter tha Bhaal temple in the Undercity you let Sarevok attack you and just go outside the temple and kill him there.
The game will not finish and do the Final Save until you re-enter the temple.

So defeat your malignant half-brother and do some more awesome quests before Irenicus captures you! :-)

Nope. He is just a corpse.

Too bad. That two-handed sword would've been nice :)

    Wow! This... changes everything!
Even though I do agree with @Bhaaldog that it is quite weird to end the game like this, to just go back later and get the end cinematic, it's still an option.
In my last playthrough I actually had stop stop chasing Sarveok before the thief warrens, to go and do Durlag's Tower first. It felt sooo weird, to let him go just like that... I think I would have taken this option had I known about it.

I agree @Senash about the unnaturalness of going on a historical cruise, etc. when Baldur's Gate is figuratively burning down. That was one of the things I liked about BGT.

    Good catch, @SamuelVarg!

CHARNAME is actually part-Cormyrean nobility, thus excusing said behaviors.

"Eh, they can tough it out until I get back."

So you defeated Sarevok because you did not allow him to control your actions. Sun Tsu would be proud! :D

:D Maybe. But I also gave him weeks to prepare for my coming in the undercity. Come to think of it, he should have starved by the time I arrived... :)

I guess he called for pizzas and ate both them and the pizza boys after they got killed in the labyrinth. ;-)

On a serious note, I find it hard to role-play the ToTSC parts into the game. You're constantly expected to do something about something urgent - getting to Nashkel, examining the Nashkel Mines, fighting bandits, checking out the Cloakwood Mines, investigating the Iron Throne, going back to Candlekeep, going back to Baldur's Gate to stop Sarevok ... you never really have the discretionary time to swan off and investigate an island full of werewolves or a haunted tower in the opposite end of the Sword Coast!
