Yes. if you have the correct NPCs pictures names, then it's no problem.. for example to exchange Viconia, it would be VICONIAL (210x330), VICONIAM (169x266) and VICONIAS (54x84).. I think the "L"-version could be skipped, but to be certain I always use the "L"-version, too whenever I change NPC portraits.
