Erroneous regeneration of main character on reload after drinking potions.

Expected behavior: When reloading a game the amount of damage on your character stays where it was when saved.
Current behavior: Upon reload my main character starts mostly or completely undamaged. I KNOW that I had damage when I saved.

This started shortly after a couple of intense fights with Demon Knight and Aec. I played the rest of the game thus far without seeing this issue. I noticed that this was happening after finishing Ulcaster and making my way to Gullykin. After thinking about this problem I started to recall that this also happened in the original BG1 as well. Whats more, it started at the exact same point in the game back then! Right after fighting Aec. I have a theory as to what is causing this problem:
Drinking potions of power/heroism or some other combination of buffs is screwing with my HP in the save file somehow. I almost never drink potions unless it is a really hard fight.
This odd bug seems to affect the same save file even after many overwrites. To add even more oddity to the situation, sometimes upon repeated reloads of the exact same save file the damage IS preserved like expected but most of the time my character suddenly has full health. I think I will include my save file in this post so you can try for yourself. Yes, yes, yes. I know I used SK a lot on this one but I did that a long time ago and I only just started having the problem. Besides, I didn't even know what SK was when I played the original so I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it.
Note: I had exactly 61 points of damage and 59/120 HP when I saved this game.

Ah HA!!!!! I loaded a different save file. As soon as I saved the game after drinking a potion of power the reload healing started happening. The problem MUST be the potion of power and heroism too. May also be an issue with the claw of Kaz and potion of fortitude. I probably will not check those though. Further experimentation reveals that this is only a problem if you save while under the effects of these potions. Then every load thereafter will have a chance of regenerating hp.

So what do I do now that my save file is corrupted? I don't have one from before potion drinking...

Edit: I was able to fix this bug by saving my game under a different name in a new slot and deleting the old file in the old slot which I was overwriting when I saved. I still think this bug should be addressed though.

Well, I played with your save game a bit and didn't notice anything wrong yet... Injured the main character, saved, then reloaded...no change. Drank potion of Heroism, saved, reloaded and still no change.

Didn't try the potion of Power yet because I didn't see one in your pack, but will buy one and try it out later.

You do have a Con of 20 though which is a regenerating level. So travel between areas regenerates you like normal if your injured. Different times of travel regenerates different amount of damage...that seemed normal....

I have the same bug with your save game, sometimes when I reload, the main character is healed.

@JTM It is instant heal upon reload about 50% of the time. That isn't normal. I also encountered the same issue on my 16 con wild mage after drinking potions so it isn't the regeneration rate thing.

@Tresset I'll keep trying to see if I can reproduce it. I wonder what OS you and @DarKelP are running BGEE on? My install is on WinXP...
