    Well, but that's an issue with the original Kensai kit. Don't really agree that just because one kit wasn't true to their ethos, that its ok to do the same with a new kit.

    You just said you don't agree with yourself.

    No, I said that its not ok for new kits to not be true to their ethos, which is why I suggested those disadvantages for Duelists.

    So not fixing existing kits to fit their "ethos" is ok. In other words, making the Kensai more like the "Sword Saint" it should be doesn't float with you? Yet, making a new kit more Kensai like (in ethos) even after criticizing some of the Kit ideas as being "Kensai-lite?"

    Logic is not with you.

    @Boaster

    Don't put words in my mouth. I never said anything like that. The Kensai kit has existed for 14 years and its up to Overhaul if they want to change it or not. This topic is discussing a new kit that doesn't actually exist yet.

    My point is: just because mistakes were made with the old kits doesn't mean that we should repeat the mistakes again with new kits.

    Basically you ditched the gladiator, but reanimated him as the duelist afterwards. The AC-bonus is bad by design. The whole point of limiting the kit to studded leather is nullified by the AC-increase. And his special ability seems very weak/useless. Mages have a level 2 spell with almost the same effect, save the malus on attack armor and damage.

    Thanks for the re-iteration.

    I just changed the kit name and started a new thread and made some modifications.

    @Boaster, serious dude... this existential crisis in your replies start to become boring. Somehow you justify the chosen nickname.

    Let's try to go back to the thread:

    Fighter kit - Duelist

    To me part of this kit need is filled by the swashbuckler kit, the other part of this kit is filled by the Kensai kit.

    In fact the translation of swashbuckler in my home language (portuguese) is "espadachim", that means swordsman too.

    What would differ a duelist from the kensai/swashbuckler, that's the great question.

    @kamuizin

    You cannot dual class or multi-class two kits. So it's not possible to be Kensai/Swashbuckler.

    Swashbuckler doesn't get Attacks Per Round bonus at Specialization, nor at Level 6 or Level 13. And unlike a swashbuckler, does not Steal, Hide, Pick Locks, or Disarm Traps, or Set Traps. Swashbuckler cannot wield Hammers, Flails, etc. Also cannot wear standard helmets a Warrior can. Swashbuckler can only wield a "buckler" as a shield.

    Kensai cannot wear any armor, nor can it wear bracers or utilize Shields. Kensai kit makes a much better Fighter/Mage when Dual Classing, since the Kensai doesn't rely at all upon Armor for defense. Kensai also cannot wield Missile weapons period.

    With a -4 AC penalty and not being able to negate it with a SWORD AND SHIELD weapon style, the Duelist will have a difficult time with ranged opponents. Even though the Duelist can wear a shield, it does help. Ergo, as a Duelist, you can defensively improve AC versus missiles for a reduced penalty or just go for the offensive rampage.

    Duelist, unlike a Kensai, can wield shields (but without SWORD AND SHIELD weapon style) or missile weapons (but at penalty due to proficiency restrictions).

    I personally liked the Duelist kit in the G3 mod Sword and Fist, but that's just me.

    I really don't care, i trully believe that the kits should get a review, not only adding new compatible kits, but fixing the old ones to fit better on the game. I just don't feel that a duelist kit is needed, when i read duelist i remember instantly of the duelist sub class of thief in Dragon Age 2.

    In fact what the game truly need, what i truly miss in baldur's gate are the feats, skills to non magical class and bonus/penalities to all classes, but unseless it's already being done i doubt a suggestion like this would be take in consideration.
