Should Chelsey's Crusher's location be modified ?

A poor gnoll is wielding a +2 Halberd ...

It is the only +2 Halberd and available right of the bat.

You only find the +1 halberd after this one.

Shoudn't this weapon in possession of another character ? (for instance the named gnoll chieftain in the caverns inside the bandit camp).

The did the same thing with the elven chainmail that was removed from Dorothea and given to the final Dorn vs ennemies encounter.

    You may have upset that Gnolls feelings! For all you know he was working hard to protect his wife and young gnollings and now you wish to rob him of his prized possession?

    Bah, that dog should be silent. He has no purpose but to die by your hand.

    I think it makes a little used weapon class a bit more attractive which may be an incentive to leave it where it is?

    He can wield a +1 Halberd and still find a +2 one later.

    Think its meant to be an easter egg

    ... maybe he found it on a corpse? I smell a mod idea cooking.

    Though it is an ester egg, it can be found elsewhere I believe.

    There is another +2 halberd, but it's only availabe much later.

    Limited to 1 attack per round. I'm fine with it.

    I'm sorry I'm not getting this - why is the location a problem?
  • KarinonKarinon Member Posts: 57
    @Wanderon:
    There is a Halberd +1 in a cave in the same area.

    I never found the Halberd, +2.
    Useful for Kivan, who has this proficiency

    This is the weapon I use on my HalfOrc berserker with 4 pips in halberd and 2 pips in 2 handed weapons. I have one hit Ogres,DoomGuards, and just about every human foe. The most damage I ever done was over 90 on a carrion crawler.
    Also its the Chesley Crusher a play on Wesley Crusher fron STNG.

    @kansasbarbarian

    Wouldn't a level 7+ fighter that is specialized do more damage with another 2 hander given they would have 2 APR instead of 1?

    I only see this weapon as nice on classes that can't get above 1APR anyway, or early on, or on a Blade. My blade with offensive spin is still getting 2 APR with the crusher. Not sure if that is a bug or intended.

    You'll be doing a maximum of 31 damage per round without criticals, assuming no other buffs than rage. If you were using 2H swords, you could do as much as 56.

    It's pretty much like @moopy said, as soon as you start getting extra attacks, the Crusher looses a lot of it's appeal.

    That being said. I'm sure you already realize that, and if you like the Crusher, by all means more power to you.

    I'm using it on a Blade right now and loving it.

    Yeah I recently completed a playthrough with a dual-wielding Blade. I remember coming across the Crusher and thinking, damn, that would have awesome for my Blade to use if I had chosen my proficiencies differently.

    Well if you figure that if you do not just dismiss him sending him into attack mode and listen to his comments you would never know he had the +2 one I would agree with you.

    What? Are you saying that you can talk to the gnoll that drops the Crusher? He was hostile on sight for me.
  • Aasimar069Aasimar069 Member Posts: 803
    Yes, I was always able to speak to him, though I don't know the conditions that would allow (or not) him to speak to my party.

    Then there is the choice to attack him or letting him explain himself, then he goes away.

    @Quartz

    If I want to take Edwin I send a thief up there stealthed or invis and backstab Dynaheir, but yeah, I don't deal with most of the Gnolls.

    I honestly feel like the Chelsey Crusher's location is quite silly. I think it should be on the Gnoll Chieftan in the Gnoll Stronghold, because you would FINALLY get some REAL treasure for dealing with that stupid fort. I actually never go up there ... just kill the two ogrillons, get the charisma tome and leave. THAT is how little incentive there is to go up there ...

    @Quartz

    I may not agree with you on this, but nevertheless I can't help to admire the way you trashed Dynaheir without even mentioning her.

    Yes it all depends on your responses. If you are nice and "take" his advice he does not go hostile ( you can still go on to the fortress just agree with the gnoll and move on )

    No, I mean he was hostile the moment I saw him. I was scouting with a stealthed thief, and when I came across him he already had a red circle beneath him. I then killed him, and looted the Crusher with some surprise. Must have been a bug or something.
  • baaddarebaaddare Member Posts: 145
    Hmm what was your rep at? Wondering if that had anything to do with him being hostile right off

    @TJ_Hooker

    I've checked Ingot's script with NI. It looks like he checks a variable called "HelpMinsc" and he become hostile if this variable is 2. So it depends on whether you are on Minsc mission to rescue Dynaheir or not.
