LOL. I once (way back in the annals of time), played a female thief in the original AOL version of Neverwinter Nights. One particular evening, I was role playing and partied up with this other guy. I played the role for several hours. The next morning, I got 3 emails from him trying to pick me up. Even after I sent an email back explaining the error in his logic, he didn't believe me.

Gender means how one identifies oneself, while sex describes one's physical nature, doesn't it? Considering this, I don't find it *too* remarkable that a certain amount of people does not identify themselves as male, or female.
Yeah, I also don't understand when people claim they fall in love with someone they met in an internet forum or chatroom. You're only a combination of nickname and avatar on the internet...

Unlike real life, where you are only a combination of surface personality and physical appearance. ;-)
I guess I can understand better why people claim they fall in love with a forum or chat user than an NPC or otherwise fictional character. At least the forum and chat people don't have scripted lines.
If you make a location poll and put Antarctica as a choice, some people will pick it because they think it's funny.
I think at least some of the posters in the Other category picked that for the same reason.
I know. Was just making an observation on the poll results. To be honest I find it hilarious even if most of the people who voted that way are joking or pressed the wrong button.
I think everyone who player a lot og BG:EE have player both genders anyway.. so.. no point in asking that.
Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who only play their own gender. And only play their own sexual preference. I kinda find that bizarre. I mean, you're already playing like, a Half-Orc or something right? I'm pretty sure you're not a Half-Orc...

I've never played a male character unless I didn't have the option, like in Planescape Torment for example. If I'm roleplaying, I have zero interest in playing a dude (especially since the story is pretty much unchanged whether you're female or male). Just not interesting to me...... I had no idea I was one of the 'few' that felt that way.
I never play female characters, I won't even play games where that's the only choice. I am not a.. Crossdresser, I only play human male, i have no wish to be an elf or a midget or a woman. Besides how can you role play a girl as a guy... Isn't that a bit weird
You know, despite being a woman, I like playing male characters more than females in roleplaying games anyway... I don't quite know why this is, especially when boys scared me as a child.

Because you want the pleasure of looking at a woman's ass as you walk around? At least that's the joke-reasoning my boyfriend uses. XD I dunno, I don't think it's so weird. If a woman can role play a man with relative ease, I see no reason a man can't role play a woman... In the end, it just all depends on what you want to do.
Roleplaying is a form of writing. You make up a character and decide how that character interacts with the fictional world. If no-one had the interest in playing/writing the opposite gender, how would authors write novels with characters that aren't their own gender? I don't find it weird if a guy plays a woman or vice versa.

Are you male or female? To find out the answer, look down.
