@Kaigen well perhaps it wasn't the Iron throne then, that had done something to him, perhaps it was the iron shortage in general. That actually makes more sense, because Ender Sai does mention the fact that plenty of the mercenaries that have been caught were blaming it on the Zhentarim, which I suppose means that Ender must have been digging around for information about the iron shortage in general before he was tucked away in the tent he now resides. I personally think, after this discussion, that he did have some type of reason for trying to end the shortage, and followed the tidbits that were floating around.
I really liked this discussion, was very enlightening.
Tranzig was the transporter of the Iron Throne's untainted ore. He would move a bunch of it in bags of holding so he could travel by himself and keep a low profile.
wasn't he also a courier between the two? And where does it say that he traveled by himself?
In one of Rieltar's letters to Davaeorn: I have sent Tranzig to work with the mercenaries in transporting the iron to your base in Cloakwood. He has brought several bags of holding so that he, alone, will make trips into Cloakwood, thereby lessening the chance that Flaming Fist trackers might find your stronghold.
He also passed messages between Tazok and Mulahey and was the one who paid Nimbul on Tazok's behalf.
@Delvarian I do believe you are right, and that we can learn a large amount of the background of this game from @Jalily 's undeniably large depth of knowledge.
In all seriousness, thank you @Jalily, this is VERY helpful to my work, and this should help me finish it with more accuracy for the story. Also, Jalily, if you wouldn't mind, I know that you're probably busy, but can I PM you a small favor?
@Delvarian Granted I was exaggerating, I was at least sincere in the general message. I definitely agree with you, and thanks to her, my NPC won't be released with a bunch of lore centered errors lmao XD
I've had a google around and there's speculation on the Boards o' Magick that Semaj may refer to James Ohlen, lead designer of BG1.
Trent Oster's also tweeted: "My fondest BG memory was killing Semaj the Mage with a backstab by my dual class fighter thief and bugging James (Semaj is James backwards)" Which would support that it's a team member.
As for other named characters without backstory, I remember reading that many Baldur's Gate NPCs including Minsc were based on the PnP characters of the designers. It could well be that some of tehm have cameo appearances.

he just has something to separate him from nameless mobs

If I recall correctly, he's the one who turned Branwen into stone when she didn't want to be involved in his plots anymore.
@Nonnahswriter Yes, he did turn her to stone, but I was asking more in line with exactly what his connection was between Mulahey and Tazok.
