Jester song...

So I was fooling with a jester yesterday trying to level her up to about level 2 in order to import her into another team. It was mostly just her and Imoen kiting whatever they ran across near the FAI and early maps and while kiting I would pop her song on.

The thing is that even when it worked - other than the pretty magical effects it did not seem to effect the battle - the confused character didn't stop chasing her things just continued as they did before the effect took place.

The affects of the Confusion can vary, sometimes the affected NPC will continue fighting you, other times they'll attack their comrades, wander around aimlessly or remain stationary

So for a better result it's good to go invisible through enemies singing a song and when they become "badly injured" attack them with another member (s) of your party.

Though the second level of spells is available only when a jester reaches the 4th level, so probably the real power of a jester can be seen after this stage.

it's fairly hit and miss and only works really well against larger groups. sometimes a single enemy will stop, mages will always cease to cast spells so it can be useful

Yeah I knew there were different possible effects it just seemed like I was always getting the same effect - which was essentially no effect other than the pretty swirls as they continue to chase her.

It occured to me at the time that perhaps the reason for this was due to the small AOE that the enemy was always very close when effected and thus perhaps more likely to continue to target her either as a continuation of the prior attack or as a new "random" attack.

Mostly I was just curious if others were noting the same thing.

If there is no other enemy or the group is scattered, it's more likely they still attack you. Going invisible is the best idea - Jaheira's potion is the first and only for a while, but you can get Invisibility scrolls from High Hedge (I think there are 3 scrolls). It also helps to Glitterdust hostile groups first (High Hedge and Feldpost Inn have scrolls). As level 1 spell, Blindness can be the poor man's Glitterdust, it at least stops enemies from attacking you and once they are unfocussed, it's more likely they pick a new target (each other) once the spell wears off.
