new monk kits- are they better than old monk?

Sun Soul monk (old monk crossed with fire cleric), Dark Moon monk (monk crossed with Necromancer mage), Detective Monk monk (+1 against bluffs and solving murders)
Well, we lose the stunning blow for some rather magical special abilities...

...anyone tried these in BGEE? I haven't yet and would welcome your opinion. Thanks.

I ran a Dark Moon Monk in the Black Pits and to be perfectly honest, I wasn't impressed too much with him. Now Sun Soul on the other hand, is what I should have ran. Extra 2D6 Fire Damage with his fist? Yes, please. Fire Shield Red? Yes, please.

I just don't like playing a Lawful Good Monk, which is why I opted for the Dark Moon. I'd like to see a Neutral one.

The old monk is the neutral one :-)
But yes, the LG of the Sun Soul monk is a real problem for me too.

I remember in IWD2, there were 3 monk kits/subclasses. "Old Order" was the third and the specialties were different - they could take levels in another class (Sorceror, Thief and Cleric I remember. Not sure about the Cleric)

The flaming fists are really good. Too bad they only ever have 1 use/day and only ever last 1 round in BG1:EE with the level cap. The loss of quivering palm though, oof that is kinda rough. I loved that ability. Kill anything in one shot is pretty good.

Yes, the flaming fist attacks are awesome. Other abilities are meh and look too much like taken out from DragonballZ. Flying balls of energy and stuff...
HOWEVER... it forces you to go Stupid Good in alignment.

Remember, evil will always triumph, because good is dumb!
