Possible bug when resting?

Hello, just cleared out the spiders lair in Cloakwood, Khalid has only 3 hit points left out of 70, he is not poisoned nor was he poisoned whilst in the lair, when I rest outside he dies. His portrait now shows -1 hit points?
I thought he should recover hit points not lose them?

Also I just tried to transit from one map to another and he dies during the transit?

    Did he drink any potions or something that raise his constitution? If the effect wears off he may lose some bonus HP and die.
