Download my mod that puts Drizzt back to his AD&D stats instead of the developers godlike stats.

iPad user, but I'll do it if it's Portrait-dump-compatible.

I found killing Drizzt a breeze in the EE. Sarevok, head werewolf and the Demon Knight in Durlag's Tower were much harder.

    fighter/mage > drizzt
    fighter/cleric > drizzt
i even heard of fighter dwarf 1v1 killing drizzt so he is not that hard

"Soloed" Drizzt on Core rules in BG:EE, no cheese, no healing, no moving.
    Used lvl7 Minsc equipped with:
    - The World's Edge +3 as a weapon, specced (+two handed weapon style also)
    - Practical Defense +3 as armor
    - various misc items for +AC, +Thac0 like Balduran's helm
    and buffed by:
    - Cloud Giaint Strength potion
    - Heroism potion
    - Haste
    - Defensive Harmony
    - Bless
    - Improved Invisibility (for -4 penalty on to-hit rolls)
    - Berserker Rage
As a result, Minsc had Thac0 = 0 and effective AC of about -13 against slashing attacks.

After buffing, Minsc just activated berserker rage, walked up to Drizzt and started to pwn. Had about 50% hp when Drizzt died.

For my solo druid run in BG1 (not BGEE) I plan on killing drizzt. If necessary I will use all the cheese I can muster
    >:D

Edit: But kudos to anyone choosing to avoid cheesy methods of killing him.

@the_spyder Perhaps some people like an active discussion on a topic instead of doing "research" and searching through pages of forum topics. I do believe at the very top there is a thread named "ask us anything". With the greatest respect, I don't see how another thread on this topic affects you in any way. If you don't like it, don't comment maybe?

@Daelric - again with the greatest respect, just now I did a simple search using the terms "Killing" and "Drizzt" in this forum. There are 35 pages of threads relating in some way to this topic. Some of them are QUITE extensive, and some of them are quite recent. If anyone is interested in engaging in discussion on the topic, it would seem to me that the best course of action would be to jump in to one of the active ones rather than generating yet another one, but this is simply my opinion. However, in light of the fact that this is a friendly forum you will see that I after my initial comment, have been contributing to this particular thread as well.

I am not a moderator. And as you are not one either, I would politely request that you respect the opinions of other posters. Also, please post only where you have something appropriate to the thread, not simply to chastise another poster.

I don't get the point of complaining about someone's post 2.5 months after they've made it. Your point back then was valid The_spyder, there are a lot of threads on this that the OP could have posted on (it was made before the archive came online).

Ranged accuracy on boes is awesome. I'd recommend using wands and spells to summon. The firing every specialty arrow and bolt you found. Maybe assassin could work? There is a lower spell resist spell but don't know if u can ever use it without mods

Ok, so we've all killed Drizzt. My question is: can you, with 1 melee character, kill more Gnolls than Drizzt in his little "quest"? All that critter has to do is look at a Gnoll and it explodes:)

I can, if I import my ToB Dwarven Fighter with 20 STR and all of his ToB equipment. Easy. ;P

Fighter dualed to a cleric could stand a pretty good chance. By max level you'd have 5* in a weapon, or 4*'s in a weapon with 3* in dual wielding. Plus DOHM/potion of frost giant strength, as well as lesser benefits like chant and bless. Throw in a potions of speed, guantlets of weapon expertise, and a potion of heroism.

That or just go with the half orc kensai route :)

@elminster - I think what you describe would blow through the Gnolls much faster than ol Drizzt could ever hope to do. He'd be taking down 2-3 per round, blasting them to chunks every round. He'd only be constrained by the number of Gnolls within striking distance.

I don't actually have a ToB dwarven fighter, but if I did, with a 20 STR and a +5 weapon with weapon mastery, he'd one hit kill every time he swung his weapon. THAC0 would be such that only a 1 would miss and damage would be such that even a 1 roll would total a kill. It'd be fun to watch, but probably a bit boring after the initial deaders got beheaded.

Of course, I can kill Drizzt without even touching him (and without spamming traps for days :) )
  • drawnacroldrawnacrol Member Posts: 253
I found Drizzt pretty easy to kill in my playthrough. Dorn just minced him up with his sword. The werewolf boss on Balduran's isle however. He ripped my squad to shreds at least 7 times before I had to cheat kill.

You mean you didn't use WereBears?

This is a forum where we talk about a 15 year old video game guys. There are only so many topics we can talk about before we go over the same ones more than once, especially the more intriguing ones such as killing Drizzt. Now I've read posts you guys have put up before and you're very knowledgeable, so surely you can understand this? Now there's bound to be another thread started someday about killing Drizzt, probably many others in fact, can we not complain about those and just ignore them then?

Back in the old days of yore people talked about killing Drizzt. You couldn't take a step in the BIS/Bioware forums without running into a topic such as this. Nothing has changed.

Download my mod that puts Drizzt back to his AD&D stats instead of the developers godlike stats.

*gasp* Is this compatible with BG:EE? I will download it and start a new playthrough RIGHT NOW if so.

  • CoM_SolaufeinCoM_Solaufein Member Posts: 2,606
It is only compatible with BGEE as far as I know.

The one and only time I killed Drizzt, it was with Imoen hiding in shadows and backstabbing him, running away into the trees and hiding in shadows again and repeat untill dead

Did it once on EE. came towards Drizzt position from the north east and all the gnolls came towards me, killed them all then found drizzt. Thought it was a bit funny him asking for help when there was no gnolls. Never been able to replicate it
