Recommended Fallout Mods?

So I purchased Fallout 1&2 during a recent GOG sale and am eager to start playing them (well, as soon as finals are done anyways), but I'm wondering if there are any good mods I should install before I start? I've never played them before, so I wouldn't want anything that adds or changes significant content, but are there any 'must have' mods? I guess what I'm looking for is something analogous to BG Fixpack/Tweakpack, Widescreen mod, Unfinished Business, etc. Any recommendations?

    Err, did you mean to post this in off topic perchance?

    And don't install the FO2 Restoration mod for your first game. :)

    @Jalily has it right, don't use content mods until a initial playthrough, but you'll need to patches since Fallout 2 was basically released incomplete.

    Patches are a must have. The Restoration mod for F2 is great. As already said, don't install it on your first play through.

    @Samus
    Well I was too young when it first came out. I think my gaming at that point was limited to an old Sega Genesis. Even several years later I was still primarily a console gamer, with the PC being reserved mostly for strategy games. I eventually started playing PC games more often after discovering the Infinity Engine games, but was kept occupied for a while with the various Bioware RPGs. I had vague plans for buying Fallout for a number of years after that, but I guess I wasn't quite sold on the idea of a science fiction setting, rather than a more typical fantasy one. Finally I came across that GOG sale and said to myself "they're only 5 bucks each and buying them is a matter of a few mouse clicks. You may as well."

    I actually bought Fallout 3 back when it first came out. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but at the same time I'm not sure if I want to get F:NV. From what I can tell, the gameplay in NV is more or less the same as Fallout 3, just with a different story. I figure that if all I want is new content, there are a few DLC for Fallout 3 I could try before picking up a whole new game, and so far I haven't really felt the urge to do so.

    I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

    Fallout NV is surprisingly different from Fallout 3, I wouldn't say better, but there is enough variety to justify a purchase.
