So after months of trouble and crappy computers I finally got my BGEE running so I am asking you guys; How should I play my first playthrough?
I managed to play for some days back in December so I have done the 3 new npc's storylines, but no romance.

As everyone else I have played the BG saga over and over again and I usually end up with a very similar party, me as a fighter or fighter/thief, Minsc, Yeslick, Imoen and then I try to change the rest.

My thoughts now when half a years expectations can finally be met is to either run a 2 person party (I ALWAYS do 6 player parties) consisting of a Illusionist/thief and a Cleric/Ranger or an all evil party with Dorn, Vicci, Montaron, Xzar, Edwin, New Guy and me as a......who knows.....Ooops, that makes 7 so I guess one has to go.

I did the Black Pits yesterday and will start the new runthrough tonight (european time) so please be fast =).

    lol... Chaotic Good psychopath....

anyway, it's evening european time so you are probably already playing.

My tip- go for a Neutral/LE charname with all evil party consisting of Dorn, Vicky, Edwin, Monty (or you as Assasin), Shar-teel and...and Ajantis! (the joys of letting a paladin fall...)

Sell all the equipment you find from bounty hunters, get rich quick!

Never feel bad about killing Drizzt again!

Laugh, leaving Nashkell desolate and no way to proceed to the next chapter!

    EVIL! EVIL! EVIL!

Remember to make your character Chaotic Good... So you can use the Drizzts swords. You are a psychopath, but a Good psychopath... You just blank out occasionally and end up dripping in blood...

How are you going to kill Tethoril, Gorion, and Duke Eltan? (while still completing the game)

You guys are making the evil party sound pretty palatable. You've convinced me it would be pretty exciting to run them through the world to see what happens. Sort of like the dark Magnificent 7 (er...6).

It would be fun to give them a raison d'etre, something like a "social disease" from West Side Story.

Ctrl-Q them, then kick them out. Works like a charm.

Looks like, Xzar (dualled to cleric), Monty, Edwin, Dorn, New guy and PC Jester.
read somewhere that someone thought evil jester was his/her funniest playthru...
  • KidCarnivalKidCarnival Member Posts: 3,747
That would be me (and some others from the jester club). It's also the party I had in that run, except Kagain instead of Baeloth. There's already a lot arcane casting going around; Xzar's 6 levels, Edwin and charname (with wands and scrolls basically a full caster). There's also a little bit extra dialogue after Dorn's quest between him and Kagain.

OK, I will keep Kagain until i can get new guy for the new dialogue.

This has been by far the most fun I've had playing BG:EE - http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/15828/the-75-roll-no-reloadno-resurrection-challenge

I highly recommend trying it out. The good news... if you don't like this method of play through, it normally doesn't last very long anyway :)

    It looks awesome =).

I always love starting a new character, the first 2 levels when any and everything can kill you is a VERY different experience compared to when you wield magic weapons and wands.

Getting a random encounter with 4 ettercaps is kind of a bummer......lucky me for NOT doing a no reload run =).

It's after Dorn's fight with Simmeon. You need to have access to the city. You can, of course, park Baeloth until then; he'll not disappear if you refuse him. He'll wait outside the Friendly Arm Inn.

Generate your character randomly, a la this thread: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/17887/create-a-random-game-optional-no-reload-speed-game-contest-included-spoilers/p1

It's a bunch of fun and you're guaranteed to play a class that you haven't played before. Well, not guaranteed but it's likely as not that you haven't played a LE female dwarf assassin.

Putting aside the fact that that doesn't actually kill them, I tried that on both Tethoril and Gorion. Neither disappeared after I removed them from my party. But even if that did work...you yourself aren't murdering Gorion for instance while still advancing in the plot.

Just finished with Evil Jester, Kagain, Xzar (dualled to cleric) Monty (First time i ever pleyd with him and I loooooove him), New Guy and Edwin.

New guy and Edwin seem a weeeee bit overpowered I must say.
Evil Jester with invisibility is also badass....to bad you don't get xp for making enemies kill eachother.

I didn't find money being an issue playing evil....might do another run with Tiax (never had him) and Dorn.

Or maybe all shorties, Tiax, Quayle (who I never played either), Monty, Kagain, Yeslick and me as ......who knows. Mages are for wuzzes.
  • KidCarnivalKidCarnival Member Posts: 3,747
Baeloth and Enfeebled Squirrel in the same party would be pretty overpowered, too.

With invisible jesters, it's best to just let the minions slay each other, then be quick and kill their boss. The XP you lose if a mob of gibberlings kills itself doesn't really matter, it's just hurts if it's something with more HP to gain.

Running my first evil party right now
    Nothing special about going evil
    Everything is more expensive
Must have paid at least 8k in donations to temple
to keep my rep at about 6
I was too evil originally for Viconia to join my party
had to go to temple and donate 1000 gold to get my rep up
    Right now party includes
    CHARNAME Elf priest of Talos
    Dorn
    Kagain
    Viconia
    Baloth
    Shar Teel Dueled to thief
    Play evil has its moments
And I will probably play evil one more time in BG2:EE
    but that is about it

    cleric/thief half-orc or dwarf?
    eldoth
    kivan

should be pretty weird with bard magic + bows + cleric backstabing
  • LindeblomLindeblom Member Posts: 257
Going for either 3 halfers, me as a Cleric, Monty and Alora or 3 dwarves; me as F/T, Kagain and Yeslick.

Maaaaybe I would add the 2 gnomes as I never played with either.

Tell me what you think or if you tried and found any problems...

    The rivvveeers ruunn reeeed!!!!!!!
  • LindeblomLindeblom Member Posts: 257
Did the 3 dwarves, it was interesting to not have a magician but MAN (or woman) does potions make a difference.... I usually save my potions and all of a sudden the game is finished....Last time I played Edwin(a) and New Guy (is he still a spoiler??) and the MM'd the Uber werewolf on the Island to smithereens, but a couple op storm and cloud Giant strength on kagain, Yeslick and my F/T made this eaaaaasy.

All shorties this time, Me as a gnome Ill/T, Kagain, Yeslick, Monty, Quayle and Tiax and move up difficulty a step......they all look like Tyrion wobbling around....coooooool.
