How does BGEE implement the fatigue penalty?

Vanilla BG1 was supposed to be -1 to luck for every 4 hours beyond 24 hours game time after a rest (according to original manual)

Anyone know how BGEE implented this (and/or how BG2 did since we are in the BG2 engine)?

According to this Jalily's answer http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/15524/add-fatigue-and-morale-to-character-record , fatigue means -X to rolls, and this "-X" depends on number of hours fatigued.

And according to bigdogchris's answer on the same thread, every 4 hours fatigued means -1 to rolls.

Also, it an be useful to remeber there're also fatigue bonuses based on CON in the game.

    http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/14704/fatigue-bonus

The higher is NPC's CON, the more he can travel without being fatigued.

But as soon as a character is fatigued, his rolls get -1 penalty for every 4 hours fatigued.

    http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/15512/checking-ones-fatigue-level also confirms it.

This is how BGEE implements the fatigue penalty.

    @Samus

    You're always welcome:)

It would be great if all this is written (shown) in the game.

That is an interesting question. If I could add to @Wanderon 's question, if you received -1 to luck for every 4 hours, what is your initial starting luck? Do characters have the same amount of luck or is everyone different?

This is a good question - what the base luck is, and if it can be altered with SK. I was planning a BP run with a party based on characters from Spartacus, and my Gannicus (CG ranger) would need a +1 luck, because really, his luck is ridicolous in the show.

I don't think you start with any "luck" - it's just an addition or subtraction of your rolls if you gain (spell?) or lose (fatigue or other loss of luck)

Fatigue penalty makes for interesting trade offs in a no reload "speed game" - when fatigued do you take the 8hr rest which counts towards your speed score or suffer an additional -1 to rolls every 4 hours and take the chance of having that impact your abiltiy to survive...

    I like it!

So luck penalty means you do less damage with your attacks and suffer more damage from attacks/spells, right? Also there is a penalty to ThAC0, I think. I was dragging my party tired for days on they had very difficult time fighting dopplegangers, whereas they should have been easier. Also, my shadowdancer backstabbed for triple damage and did 1 damage to a doppleganger, with his whistling sword+2, how is that even possible?

Less damage - less chance to hit - less chance to save - etc

it's a -1 penalty per every 4 hours over 24 without rest against any roll you make so it may even effect hps at level up.

(BTW thats -6 for every 24 hours over which could really add up when you are teleporting around the map)

How about the con bonuses? I know this was brought up from the random game thread, but when I was pushing my party my main char with 18 con just never fatigued throughout cloakwood, and I think our last rest was in bandit camp. I believe minsc and kagain kept going also.

Technically speaking you should find anything you might want to know here: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/55293-morale-morale-break-fatigue/

Look for my 4th post there for a more "easy to read" in depth explanation.

The CON stat simply raises (or decreases for low CON values) the base fatigue lvl (e.g. CON 16 grants +1 bonus, thus a character with such CON takes 4 more hours to get fatigued than a character with CON 8-15).

There is also a kind of bug with the fatigue. If you travel a lot, for example from Baldur's Gate to Nashkel and save when you are arrived (before any complaint ) and load this save, the party will able to go on while the next 24h without to be fatigued.

That's why good characters are better than evil ones in BG in this case ^^

Because except Kagain, almost all the other aveil pnj have a not very good one (this is true for all the fighters except Kagain, those who need to be in front line ... even when they are tired : Dorn, Shar Teel, ...)
