And suddenly Durlag's Tower got easier

Hey there!

My last post was about how easy Sarevok's battle could be with simple not-cheesy tactics , such as buffing up the party and dispelling the right enemies.

Now I'd like to comment about Durlag's tower , where I went soon after . My party had about 90.000 xp each, and we were Abjurer, Khalid, Kivan, Jaheira, Imoen and Viconia.

This time I could finish Durlag's Tower WITHOUT RESTING.

The trick? Well, by using all my wands and potions. Most players end the game either selling or not using all the items they've got. This time I tried to use everything, every single strength potion, every single charge from wand of cold/heavens/fire ....

And even though it was the unmoded version od Durlag's , clearing up the whole dungeon without resting was actually fun and challenging.

Use your potions!

    Strength potions do make battles easier. Potions of perception are a neccesity for Durlag's tower. And you can just use wands of fire to blast enemies, instead of spells. Healing/regeneration potions are great for healing without spells and resting, and in fact there are a lot of healing potions in Durlag's tower, so gulp them down to stay alive!

    New roleplaying character idea:

    The Temperance Movement: Healing Potions are bad! They're addictive! Your character's goal is to go around and smash every one they can find while ultimately getting a law to ban them permanately!

    I think of healing potions as tasting sort of like cough medicine. And that the potions of extra healing would just taste like that blueberry syrup you put on shaved ice.

    Uhh, anyways...yes. Always a good idea to drink potions in Durlag's Tower. :x And use those protection scrolls! And any other charged and/or one-off items.

    In Fallout you could buy steroids , which doubled your physical attributes but decreased your intelligence to 3. I admit that sometimes I used it!

    @DJKajuru ADDICT! =p

    @Samus "Did you know, 1/3 people who drink a healing potion die within the next thirty seconds!?"

    @CaptRory that's totally true. Healing 9 points when you're about to be punched by a golem doesn't help much...

    For my own play-through, I generally play as a Wizard. My Wizard's philosophy is that healing potions are empowered by whatever god the cleric who created them worships. Since my Wizard doesn't wish to be tainted by their power/owe them anything, he refuses to drink them. He also refuses to be healed by a cleric. This makes for a moderately challenging scenario, but it gives him incentive to not take any damage at all.

    My wizard is generally based on a PnP wizard I played way back. he had a Quasit familiar and in PnP, they conferred regeneration, so it was easier. I take as a trade off the fact that he gets Bhaalspawn healing
