If you change it in Near Infinity, I found that the Thief model changes to the Fighter one if I wear any armour above Splint Mail, but Splint Mail and below keep the Thief model.

Assassin / Mage would be my preference, because Mages are usually more fun for me than Fighter-types.

Also yes, Poison Meteors are hilariously awesome.

@EntropyXII many people say A/F makes great archer, and while true I've played a melee-only assassin5->fighter8 and he rocked. Dualwielding dagger of venom (main hand, grand mastery) and scimitar and focusing skill points on stealth only. This combo has one of the best THAC0, APR and damage for BG1. I changed his avatar back to thief and roleplayed a sociopath/assassin character. Really fun game, he poisoned his way to Sarevok's lair.
Assassin/mage would work well for an archer/mage type, but he wouldn't have enough skill points to cover thieving duties

@Southpaw @DreadKhan - I do admit that it did become annoying on one or two occassions when I saw Coran with 2-3 stars in Longbows and Haer'Dalis with two stars in shortswords.

Like they saw you coming and said "HOLY SMOKES! It's that Bhaal Spawn fella! Better break out the gatekeepers shizzle so I can show off by abilities that i'm not supposed to have xD"

.....it's like no matter how important I think it is to play legit... if I choose a fighter/thief multi or Blade those two will always be better... and I am a child of Bhaal DAMMIT! It's why I avoid those classes these days.

I think Assassin/Mage will be a good choice. I'm gonna do my best to avoid Melf's Minute Meteors and poison... it doesn't feel right. Tensors Transformation sounds pretty good, with the black blade of disaster! - However, If my assassin does the Imoen thing and doesn't keep his standard rogue appearance... Shadowkeeper will be utilised...

Just dualed assassin 4 to mage and he keeps the thief paperdoll.

I think they use the paperdoll that can wear the highest class of armour. (I usually use NI to use whichever doll I want: often Thief or Mage, but I made my Kensai/Druid use the Monk model).

@KidCarnival @Eudaemonium - Ah yes, it's only in BG 2 where Imoen lost her hood and wouldn't wear a robe, correct? That annoyed me to no end.

I don't quite get why... Did they change the Thief model completely?

I wish a thief/mage could use the thief paperdoll AND wear a robe. Kinda like having a cape and being Batman.

Imoen wears the robe, she just wears it ... discretely.

She's just had a bad experience when someone thought she looked like a mage.
