I rest after every battle

With Rest until Healed enabled

Am I doing it wrong?

Game days are going to pile up with rest until healed depending on how many healers you have and how many heal spells you memorize -

AFAIK rest until healed casts your newly memorized healing spells every 8 hours until the whole party is comletely healed (plus any additional healing that is applied when resting at an inn (the better the room the more healing applied)-

then it rests for one more 8 hour period if any spells need to be memorized.

This might be an issue if you have a quest with a timer going on - but there is only a couple of them.

yeah this is how it goes if you don't have any healing spells to cast when you rest. with a solo (with no healing/regen options) you'll either have to take the long rest times (which only matter for a couple of quests anyway), use potions or use church services

Does anything happen after so many days go by? There isn't a time limit for the game right?

Yeah this was a problem with my no reload speed run, no healers :(

@Coryivm the game has no time limit, but some quests do. @samus took over a year to do a run. You could also be the longest living human if you continued to rest a lot :)

Ah ok. I knew that some quests were time sensitive. I was afraid there was some deadline for the game to end.

Resting at inns with noble accomodations would provide more healing than other rest options -

I recall this gets really silly in BG2 resting in the wilderness with a full party severly beaten up and the only healer dead until you can get to a temple...

Party rests for 114 days 16 hours...

    Charname Rip Van Winkle...

If you can get your CON up to 20, you'll start to regenerate. It won't do much during a fight but it'll sharply cut down on the time you have to spend resting. You might consider editing your guy just as an anti-frustration measure. With a solo run, its not going to do anything for you in a fight so its not like you can abuse it or anything.

I don't always rest after a battle in the bg series, but in Icewind dale I'm not surprised that it takes a year for my party just to explore one dungeon.

If you don't memorize any healing spells on your priests, does it automagically assume you memorized some for a rest period or two, then memorized the ones you selected in your spellbook last?

It seems like there should be a cooldown on resting. You can't always sleep. Don't you need to actually sleep (or trance or whatever elves do) to memorize?

Probably a needless complication with the potential to not be fun. Better to self-regulate, I suppose, and only rest when you need to. Which is what I do because I actually care about the days played thingie for no reason. I keep rest until healed off, too.

I'm pretty sure you actually need to have them memorized. I always keep a few memorized as a just in case thing.

I am doing a solo sorcer run, and I am evil, so no lay on hands. After every hard fight its like, "Rested for 16 days 8 hours"

This made me lol. But I'm surprised you don't get interrupted by enemies during such a long rest. I almost never have any clerics in my party, but I don't usually see the need to rest for healing my wounds. There are more than enough healing potions throughout the game to not have to do that.

Try a speed game challenge against yourself. What's the least number of days you can complete the game in!

By the way the lay on hands thing doesn't seem to count so unless you heal yourself before you rest, your guy won't use it and it will take just as long as if you had no healing IIRC

Larloch's minor drain is your friend.

    So are summons/familiars.

You're evil. You can use both wisely.

I think the game doesn't take in account the time of the rest to trigger random battles when someone try to sleep. Probally is just one roll each time you try to sleep no matter how long that will take.

In an solo run, if the high numbers of days passing start to bother you, you can simply pay priests in temples to heal you.

What you're doing is perfectly fine. I mean, even in real life people rest for up to two weeks after major struggles like swatting two flies within an hour or stepping on a spider.

In real life people rest their entire lives without doing anything :p
