I'd probably give him a Style proficiency to complement the longsword proficiencies.

But he'll use a bow indefinitely, so ye know....

I give him single weapon style for the rare times when he is forced to melee with his longsword. He will be shooting arrows %99 of the time, though. (he is sooo good at it!)

In your case, you can give him dagger proficiency for the dagger of venom, since your main uses longswords. But, Coran won't enjoy +1 elf bonus to hit with a dagger. And, dagger of venom is best suited for a determined backstab character, while Coran is THE ranged fighter. (he is sooo good at it!)

Yep. I just gave him a +1 Long Sword, and the best bow evah. He is an beest with bows, but I only took him with me once.

Between dagger and mace, you don't get the elf bonus either way. I'd probably take dagger, you have no-one else using that and it's helpful on the werewolf island, if nothing else.

As a Fighter Coran can use a mace, but as a thief he is restricted to backstabbing with:

    dagger
    short sword
    long sword
    scimitar/ninjato/wazikashi
    quarterstaff
    club

    (did I miss any?)

I might go with Scimitar as there's two +2's available. And staves are actually very powerful backstabbing weapons, what with Aule's Staff and the Staff of Striking.

Dagger of Venom you can't go wrong with, either.

    coran
give him the best bow and watch him kill everything on sight.... give him flametongue as 2nd weapon...

safana i usually give Icingdeath schimitar and crossbolt of speed

i would go for eldoth instead of Garric... Eldoth gives you endless supplies of poison arrows...

single weapon style prof, for backstabs only, as he'll be shooting arrows mostly anyway

I usually leave him on the bridge...

I don't want to derail this thread, so I posted the discussion elsewhere, but I'm going to try tanking Coran (out of necessity in a current game, but the potential for this looks surprisingly good).
