New Areas seen in Screenshots.

Well after finishing my first play-through of the game, Im just wondering where the areas are that are shown in the screenshots that were released. Do you need Neera or Rasaad in the party? Or is it a quest that I just blatantly missed?

Yes, the quests for new NPCs include new areas otherwise inaccessible.

    EDIT: except Dorn doesn't

Dorn has no new area. His fights are on the map east of the mines and the bridge to Baldur's Gate.

Neera and Rasaad have own areas that won't show up if you don't have them in the party. I don't know what happens if you have them in the party, get the dialogue that opens the map/quest and then dismiss them, but I assume you can't complete the quests because the NPCs will interact with Neera and Rasaad.

@KidCarnival: It's actually kinda funny: The NPCs teleport in for all the dialogues, and then mysteriously vanish into the aether. Bad coding, basically.

Yes. Even though Dorn's quest brings you to an area that is not a new one, the opponents that you meet (as well as the special items that may be available) require that Dorn be with the party.

@Anduin - Are you sure you still have your body? Did your soul maybe transfer into a vegetable and your semi-mortal shell was taken over by another entity...?

@Anduin: You are so smart! Let's turn his trick against him and see what happens! *puts a pointy hat on @Eudaemonium* This should do as Elminster disguise...

It's a calling. No-one gives it to us. The realms call, and we go.

(And the realms certainly have no freaking idea what demons they summon...)

Ah, this all makes sense. My play through was with an evil party that included Dorn. Also was anybody else EXTREMELY surprised when Baeloth showed up as a joinable NPC?? I was.

I knew about it beforehand, because I'm totally Elminster and Elminster knows these things.

After six beers, I can see Baeloth six times too.
Or it also might have been a Mirror Image spell...not sure anymore. *hic*
