Mustard jellies punch?

Mustard jellies are deadly in ranged fighting, their spit can both poison and slow down a victim for a long time. However, if I make a character move next to them, they switch to their melee attack, which is empty, so they just punch and occasionaly do 1-2 non lethal damage. Is this a feature or bug?

    Sounds like a bug to me. I wonder if it's somehow using the imp familiar polymorph attack. I think that's a 1-2 damage attack, though the damage isn't non-lethal.

    Thats odd. They shouldn't even have a melee attack. They should only attack ranged. Do you use SCS lunar? Maybe that is making them switch to their unarmed attack.

    Ah yes, I have SCS! So, in vanilla game they never do melee, but keep trying to hit with their ranged attack even if you melee them? They'll get penalty to hit and won't be able to hit easily. Anyway, that still makes meleeing them much easier.

    Maybe a melee item with the exact abilities of their ranged blob attack should be there, so they can switch to melee fighting and don't be total pushovers?
