[request] Player independancy in multyplayer mode

Hi to everyone !

My request to our favourite developers has to do with characters freedom of action. Well, I once tried to play in the original multiplayer mode in BG2 and there was one thing that my gamers pals and I, couldn't get used to :

-YOU MUST GATHER YOUR PARTY BEFORE TO VENTURING FORTH- :-D

It is not that we didn't like the catchphrase, but it is that we repeatedly dreamed to change what it imply. For instance would it be possible to implement an option in which each player could go independently into another game zone ???

B-but, "you must gather your party before venturing forth" is one of the backbones of Baldur's Gate in the first place :'(

Although having multiple multiplayer parties would be kind of cool (for example, one party goes to do the Nashkel mines as the other happy gathers dandelions in Larswood.... and gets slaughtered by Black Talon Mercs)

It wouldn't really be multiplayer if you started soloing naskhel while your buddy claims gnoll stronghold alone, would it ? Plus, how would you take time into account ? Traveling usually takes hours. Sometimes days. If your buddy starts traveling in a different "timeline" then yours, it is likely to create a time paradox that will blow the whole universe !

But between areas with 0 hours yes I don't mind AT ALL !

It would be nice to remove the party requirement for areas within areas (transitions that don't take any time).

I don't think this'll change for the new edition, but can I just say that that song is one of the greatest things I've heard ever?

It would be nice while a player is buying let's say weapons, to be able to see the wares of any other merchant; so the vendor talk sequence must not break the action of buying items.

If just hanging out ingame, idling, it might be fun if players could at least traipse around in towns and stores without being forced to stick together like kids on a fieldtrip having to hold hands the entire trip.

I agree to a limited freedom in multiplayer.

Players should be able to transition alone to areas inside areas. It makes sense for the group's invisible non-dectable scpout to be able to enter a cave alone, for instance so the he can report what is inside to the group. Having the entire group together in situations like this completly defeats the purpose of having a scout.
