Killing Irenicus * What Level Were You?

I'm curious, what level is a good level to fight him? I was level 19 as a Fighter, and although it took two tries to finish him off, it was easy the second time.

    near max level main and others a little lower

    All of my party was breaking into the ToB levels, with a few Watcher's Keep items, so we kind of curb-stomped him.

    Ah, I was just level 19, I didn't finish WK although I did part of the first level. I did it to have a Flesh Golem summons for Suldanessalar.

    so weird i did all the quests and my party was not so high level or maybe it was but with multiclassing slowing down

    I did almost every Quest available in Athkatla. :)

    Most likely maxed out.

    I believe I was maxed out on CHARNAME, or close to it.

    I'm normally at around 3.3 million experience.

    My first time defeating Irenicus was about lvl. 16-17 mage, as I recall.

    I don't really get why people are fighting Irenicus while being maxed out (I think you mean 8,000,000 experience?), because defeating him while being on lvl. 40 is not a feat at all. There is no point in battling if there is no pressure durning fight.

    Oh, dear.
    Yeah, my girl was, like, levels 12 and 13 in her two classes. :x It was an SoA-only install. I know Keto was the highest-level, because she's Keto, and she's awesome.

    SoA cap is good enough for Jon - anything beyond that makes him quite easier, though

    Irenicus becomes a easy boss once you know the in-and-outs of the BG2 magic system. I remember getting slaughter by Irenicus the first time I played him using a level 14 party. I didnt know how to defend against his magic and he just slaughtered my party.

    After understanding the spells and counters, I can take him on solo at level 6/6 Fighter/Mage. He is actually pretty easy now (vanilla).

    Ah yes, I managed to slaughter him with ease on my second try as a level 19 Fighter with my party behind me.
