to wait or not to wait... (patch question)

YgramulYgramul Member Posts: 1,060
So, I wanna start a brand new game in BGEE... I take my games a bit too serious perhaps since I only get to spend a handful of hours every week; so, they sometimes last for months. (I only play no-reload games and with SCS.)

Should I wait for the upcoming patch to come out before starting a new game? I don't wanna risk having to restart, either because the new patch or an SCS update has changed things greatly.

Any ETA on the patch?

@Ygramul I can't answer your questions (not one of the devs), but in a show of solidarity I can also say that I am waiting for the patch before playing. I think the updates will be pretty comprehensive, whatever they are.

Of course I have no way of knowing this, it's just what I've inferred from the occasional Trent tweet. He mentioned multiplayer overhaul, so I think some of the game engine mechanics will be changed in general.

    I'm waiting as well.
And now everyday i'm feeling like the patch will be out tomorrow... I'm so impatient for this patch to become real. I really hope this waiting is over soon.
    Soon...

What is this patch about? Will there be a list of the new features and bug fixes?

@Djimmy there are tons of bug fixes in the next patch and unless a game breaking bug is discovered, the new renderer should be included as well as has been discussed in other threads in the forum. This new renderer should improve performance and solve the problems with Intel HD chips in Windows

Full details shoud be availabe when the patch is released.

Ooh, will this new renderer fix slowdown bugs on Ipad, too?

Dang it! I wasn't even thinking about patches, and now @Dee and @Jalily (Imoen's screen name, so we don't have her identity stolen) have me excited. Grr!

Do we have to create a new game for the patch to take affect?

Rather depends upon ones perspective, some would say not soon enough and others would say good things come to those who wait...
    On a butterfly perspective??

Probably not soon enough. Butterflies don't live too long, so you'd be better off staying as a Caterpillar and getting a bit fatter while you wait. On the other hand, butterflies have command of the powers of chaos and may be able to affect the immediacy of the patch's advent.

    Thus it is debatable.

There are a few bugs, but I haven't encountered anything that killed off a character or fataly crashed. Why are so many people depriving themselves of fun for right now? If it doesnt work with scs then start ovet. Shoulfer shrug

Well, i guess for now we could just not wait. I mean, they said "soon" like a thousand times more than one month ago now.
The patch could be out today or in July, for what we know...

Yeah but like 900 of those were probably just from @Samus.

    @Maciak87,

Eevn developers still don't really done the amazing job yet in my feeling

But i still happy to see Baldur's Gate can return back to my life now , i don't think beamdog would like to mess up it,

I also have lots of complaints for their communication with fans and update speed slowly

But i still thanks their efforts and hope they can show their capability in the couple months later,
