That's indeed strange they didn't wait for the Android version (presumably very close release ?) to launch such a discount. Sometimes i'm really confused about Beamdog.

Android version might be months from release.

Wasn't it originally supposed to be October ?

There should be a major patch released to celebrate this discount!

No! There should be a BG2:EE release to celebrate!

Really bad move, serious. Why should i buy BG2 EE in pre-order when:

1° - I probally can get a better discout latter.
2° - will take a time to fully patch the game (as happened with BG EE)
3° - any discout for pre-order will be view with distrust (20% to pre-order and 40% to buy now)

From a business point of view, this would make a better profit if done after the pre-order for BG2 EE was released, but then i'm just a customer giving away my opinion (for free ^^)!

Edit: by the way this is an suggestion more than a manifest of my opinion, so i will not be mad or feel wronged at all if someone erase my post. The intent here is to humbly inform more than state.

With regards to points 1 and 3, you do realized that this has been done with pretty much every game ever, right? You sell it at full price when it first comes out and lots of people are buying it, and then once sales start to slump you put it on sale or drop the price in order to spur more purchases. That doesn't stop people who really want to buy the game (i.e. the people who are buying it at launch) from doing so.

Just a quick note to anyone planning to take advantage of the discount:

If you had the game in your shopping cart before today, the discount won't be applied when you go to checkout. To get the discount you'll need to remove the item from your cart and then add it again. Even if you're not sure if you had it in your cart before, if the price listed at checkout doesn't reflect the discount, that's probably what the issue is.

After months of the release (november 2012)? I don't think so, specially when only in March/April (more or less) the game was patched enough to make a decent playthrough. Ppl here pre-order more to support than anything else anyway, but still...

Anyway, changing the subject, would be possible a decent discount to pre-order in BG2 EE for people that pre-ordered BG EE? The ones with the pre-order badge.

Not to bully you, but you surely did not change the subject. You're basically putting forth the same opinion that people who pre-order should be given the best possible discount. If you wait 9 months after the release of a game, chances are you will end up paying less for it.

But are you willing to wait that long?

Maybe, atm BG:EE characters are able to be imported to old BG2, what can keep me entertained for a good amount of time :)!

I change the subject from criticize an market style to ask for a discount in BG2 pre-order, similar issues but still different :)!

Eight or nine moths ago I preorder BG:EE. Even now I can't see chinese language pack.
Now the price of the game is $11.99.
    I'm mad now!!!

I disagree. All three of these things are true of most games. 1 and 3 are true of almost everything you can buy (at least in the US). Want a brand new car? Pay face price. Willing to wait a year? Get the old model discounted. Steam sales have games up to 75% off. Prices get reduced by publishers, stores. Clothes go on sale or clearance when the season is over.

Point is: If you preorder or buy at release, you are paying full price for the ability to play it as soon as it is ready.

As a side note, something I never understand is when people buy a game with some kind of online component and are then surprised when launch day is a mess. There has literally never been a successful game that required you be online to download it or play and in which launch day went smoothly.

We're not surprised when it's a mess, just pissed. What's the alternative? To be happy/grateful when a supplier doesn't deliver what was promised when it was promised? Don't get me wrong - I'm not angry or anything, but I find it silly to say that 'well, since substandard is what we've been getting across the board, we should accept that standard'. I certainly don't.

That said, I knew that pre-ordering BG:EE was risky in that it might have problems and whatnot. I was a little surprised about how long it has taken to get BG:EE problems ironed out, but it's water under the bridge. Not sure what I'll do WRT BG2:EE; I think I'll only pre-order if I believe that fixes for BG:EE are making development BG:2EE smoother. Otherwise, I'm not sure I want the headaches (I don't really play it that much, and am currently just waiting for the next patch).

But @rdarken, BG:EE isn't a car, not even an material product. It will not deteriorate with time and this is one of the many differences between material and virtual products.

But then it's an opinion. I said many times in this forum that i will buy BG2:EE and i will, but then maybe i wait for a time, for full patchs and mod compatibility to BG2:EE.

Not saying you should accept it, but I think being angry is a waste of energy and I do not understand people who are surprised or take the day off of work.

@kamuizin A car that has never been driven, a piece of clothing that has never been worn, a coffee pot that has never been taken out of the box has not deteriorated, either. In all cases, and in the case of BG:EE, as well, the products do age and therefore become less valuable. Game sales slow after release, so companies offer sales to entice new players. Almost every game gets marked down or goes on sale at some point, so I do not think it is fair to be angry about this specific sale, but not the others. That's all I'm saying. Though, of course, you are entitled to your opinion and I completely respect it :)

BGEE went on sale on Steam about three months ago, and that was only two months after it was released there.

You know, just to put things into perspective a bit. (This is the first time I've ever heard anyone suggest that we not have a sale...)
