I agree, but this game was only $20. Any other games that come out recently I just wait till it hits the $30 mark or the inevitable GOTY edition is released. Once the game hits either of these points, most of the bugs or glitches have been fixed or are on the works. Of course there are always exceptions too.
For example, right now I just started playing Dragon Age: Origins. I can only count around 2 or 3 bugs since the game has been out for like 5 years.
I'd advise waiting until they fix ALL the bugs and ALL the glitches and until Adventure Y is added and any other DLC as well. Buying anything other than a complete, fully functioning version is a mistake. These are not the games of old, released with only minor bugs.
For every good game that was made back in the day without a lot of bugs I'm sure there are plenty that we have simply thrown to the dust bins of history because they were buggy. Arcanum, while a great game in its own right, had plenty of bugs (and not all of them minor). Mind you I think the unofficial patches have pretty well addressed them all, but the point is that the notion that "games of old" tended to be released with only minor bugs is probably a little misguided. Also today we hear about bugs more because of expanded internet access worldwide compared to when BG1 came out.
Also BG1 itself had its own share of bugs that could be considered major. The whole Yeslick going loopy and constantly leaving and entering the party is one example.
