Portal at the start of Irenicus dungeon.

A post here made me think about something i never really figured out in my years of playing this game.

The portal next to Jaheiras cage at the start of the dungeon, it has no uses what so ever. But does it get mentioned anywhere? In some text or dialogue?

It's another way to get to the second level of the dungeon, in case you find yourself back in the starting room with the portal key and nothing else to explore.

From a level design perspective, it also serves as a way to tell you that you need to find a portal key in order to escape.

Oooh, thank you for the very quick answer! I never tried to get back and use it with the key, you learn something new everyday

I've always thought that Irenicus dimension doored himself to that portal .

i was curious one day because there aren't 6 cages for 6 multiplayer characters, so i tried making a full team out of curiousity and the ones that weren't in cages started at the portal, so i guess it is also there for that.

Tsk, tsk... He's what, a level 29 Mage, and he doesn't know teleport, or teleport without error? He'd better have failed his "chance to know spells" roll, I'm not listening to any other excuses he's got!
