White text on menus and crashing

I have seen this problem reported a few times, and some vague answers which I have tried to follow, but never confirmation that anyone else got it to work, and no success myself.

On the menus I have lots of random white text. I also get crashed out, normally during character creation but occasionally I've made it to Candlekeep.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Crap... I know I fixed this for my uncle's computer but I forgot how. I know the answer is around here somewhere though so let me see if I can find it...

    I think what you need to do is update your graphics drivers. Find out what type of graphics card you have and go to their website and there should be something there that will help you update your drivers.
