Sword and Shield style + mace/flail or warhammer would be a good specc? I mean, the whole point is just to stay alive and let the other do the real fighting?
Is it true that I can skip Dexterity when I roll my Cleric? My sis talked about some gauntles that raise it to 18 anyway.
I know some players like to min/max in games and find ways to 'break it' almost, and in BG, there are things you can do that for sure can make your character feel much more powerful, such as optimising stats to give yourself 18 str, dex, constitution etc, whilst dumping in less useful stats like charisma and wisdom (not in the case of clerics, of course).
However, given that you can pretty much give yourself whatever you like anyway with EEKeeper, you might as well create a character with some... well 'character', which makes the game a bit more challenging and interesting, in my opinion anyway.
For example I want my Half-Elf Fighter/Mage to be a skilful, but not particularly strong/tough warrior, with exceptional potential for magical ability, but unfulfilled at the start of BG 1. He is very intelligent and reasonably educated (given that he grew up in Candlekeep) but inexperienced (given how young he is), and he is generally a personable and popular companion.
Thus his stats are:
Str: 15 Dex: 17 Con: 16 Int: 18 Wis: 12 Cha: 14
Of course from game mechanics point of view, I really should give him more Str to make him an effective fighter, but I don't want a godly character, just a capable one who works well for RP purposes.
I even made him Lawful Neutral initially to reflect that he values law and order, and hates chaos and disorder, and is the sort who thinks 'the ends does justify the means' when it comes to getting things done.
I accidently missclicked 20 min ago when I hit 95 O_o iiwjdkjdwk0wd´dw
lol I've never even seen a 95 before. Actually anything in the high 80s is quite workable. For my first roll in BG 1 Vanilla, my PC 'only' had 89, so I gave him:
Str: 15 Dex: 17 Con: 15 Int: 18 Wis: 10 Cha: 13
Also, if u want to save some time, you can just download EEkeeper and instantly give yourself any stats you want.
btw I have a question, when do I get proficiency points? Cleric starts with 2, but thats not enough if I want for ex upgrade sling, mace, flail and warhammer - so at what level do I get new points?

just focus on 1 weapon like warhammer or mace
clerics can only have 1 point in weapon they are not fighters that is why ranger/cleric fighter/cleric fighter/druid are soo good
druid is kind of better in some cases because he advance to level 9 and 10 in bg1 while clerics are stuck on max 8
as I said, its not me thinking cleric is the best class or anything, its the pc being the healer so I can pick better partymembers that suits me. If I for ex pick the cleric, I can skip Branwen or Viconia etc in my party and thus have a spot over for Neera or Raasad for ex.
but fighter/cleric is very good healer and much better fighter than pure cleric it is not even trade of because pure cleric will hit much less time have lower life pool and other things
you can play pure cleric but he is just weaker fighter/cleric not the other way around
baldur's gate is pretty easy so every class you choose is pretty awesome
Minsc refuse to talk with me, and yet my party has good reputation must be that my charisma is too low. why do all the guides on the internet talk about how you can negate charisma and yet a character like Minsc cant be recruited with low stats in it :S

If you have a save before you talked to Minsc then just reload. Drag a character with higher charisma at the top of your portraits on the right side. The reason people say charisma is worthless is because of an item you can get in BG2.

lol This is partly why I don't roll cheesy stats that makes your character an uber fighting machine, but grossly stupid or ugly or ignorant (people tend to use Int, Cha or Wis as dump stats, depending on class).
You can always choose a character with high charisma to lead your party and 'represent' it when talking to strangers.
I am finding my EE run with my non-optimised PC pretty easy. I am sure your Fighter/Cleric would have been more than fine with:
Str 18 Dex 15 Con 17 Int 11 Wis 16 Cha 14
To represent a powerfully built Warrior Priest of some sort. You will come across tomes ingame that will boost each of those stats by 1 anyway (which is retained for your BG 2 run). Dex is useful for all characters, but given how strong and tough your fella is, he can afford to take a hit or two.
Str 18 Dex 17 Con 18 Int 11 Wis 18 Cha 10 (according to the guide, at 10+ you no longer suffer any penalty, while 14+ gives bonuses)
I found out also where I can find a cloak in BG1 to raise charisma with 2, and ofc in BG2 you can get a ring that boast the Charisma to 18.
ps! I always put points into speechcraft/charisma in games like fallout, elder scroll etc but since I knew from BG2 that you could get 18 charisma through a ring ... I just didnt see the need to put points into it for BG1 at all, however as I said stated Minsc apprently doesnt wanna join with too little charisma.

sword/shield is the worst of all styles
at least single weapon gives you +1 more critical hit
Str: 15
Dex: 17
Con: 15
Int: 18
Wis: 10
Cha: 13

str 18
Dex 11
Con 18
Int 11
Wis 18
Cha 15
is that good enough for a cleric?
divine casters every 3 level
rest of them every 4 level
i am probably wrong but it is something like that
str 18
Dex 18
Con 18
Int 10
Wis 18
Cha 9
or similar just focus on 1 weapon like warhammer or mace

Can I start my game with it? :P I picked Fighter/Cleric as the class btw, and half-elf for RPG aspect only, since I played that in NWN/NWN2 and BG2.
the more XX the better
18/00 being 18/100 is max
it is like this
str - thaco / dmg / how much carry / breaking doors
18/01-50 +1 +3 220 25
18/51-75 +2 +3 250 30
18/76-90 +2 +4 280 35
18/91-99 +2 +5 320 40
18/00 +3 +6 400 45
