Druid Hla

Are the druid high level abilities (elemental summon and transformer) useful at all?

I'm debating my next bgee run through as avenger or ranger/cleric.bi was just wondering of that Hla are that usefully.

you can't get hla in bg:ee becaues of level cap

druids hla's are cool but not really that powerfull
greater elemental summon will summon elemental prince who is hard like planetar
    shapeshifting is decent
aura of flaming death is like big fireshield
    globe of blades is decent
    mass raise dead decent
deva pretty good but prince is probably stronger my game is moded so deva destroyed elemental prince easy
    implosion pretty good
    Storm of Vengeance joke

earth elemental stats 20/14/14 2apr dmg 20-30 so not bad
    fire elemental stats 23/14/14 1apr dmg 20-30 + around 7

The elemental princes kick serious butt; *a little more so than deva but slightly less so than planetar. Sunnis (earth) is my favorite. He has a couple of party friendly earthquake spells. The best part about him though is he likes to spam cast stoneskins, making him really hard to get rid of. Chan (air) has a whirlwind (similar to wing buffet, also party friendly) and a permanent globe of blades (keep other summons away from him). Zamaan Rul (fire) has flame strike (unlike the other two I think that one is single target) and a permanent fireshield (probably more potent than normal). All of them hit really hard with +3 enchantment, dispel magic on hit, take +3 or better to hit, and can see through invisibility like dragons and kuo-toa.

*Statement based on personal experience. I didn't actually look at their stats in NI.

I agree, elemental princes are awesome. Too bad the summon last little, devas and planetars stay much longer, iirc.

I thinks so @Dexter, yeah. But in general, I believe the Earth elemental prince is the strongest, and the fire one the weakest. Could be wrong on that though. From what I remember,

The Earth Elemental Prince can solo Amelyssan in her first stage

It's possible that a planetar can do the same, after all, they're insanely powerful and can easily survive big fights.

Plus they (planetars/devas) have some really good spells available.

To be honest I hate them. I always play SCS and when the high level mage make his time stop/alacrity/planetar/plenty defensive magics/comet on me I feel like... Well I feel like I would do that as well

Anyway, does it feels like high level druid is better than high level cleric?

it is better because clerics have less but identical hlas

They're a bit different. What's better lies in the eye of the beholder most of the time.
Personally, I find the Druid HLAs interesting enough to favor a F/D over a Rgr/CL.
Imagine a transformed Earth-Elemental Druid with 10 Attacks/Round alongside his Earth Prince companion :)

without HLAs druids are not worth picking because of cleric/rangers

Does anyone know if the Totemic Druids can access the Hla elemental shape shift. It isn't very clear one way or another.

    @Sindyan
They can. In vanilla BG2 all druids have the same HLAs.
