Weapons skills/proficiencies

Does 2-handed weapon style skill apply to bows and does sword and shield style also apply if you use sling and shield?

The styles are supposed to only apply to melee weapons.

Sword/Shield does, because it actually just requires you have a shield equipped. You MH weapon is ignored.

Single weapon and two-handed do not (and say so in the description).

Sword and Shield style does not apply when using ranged weapons and a shield, for slings or any other 1 handed ranged weapon. At least, not in BG:EE (although I don't remember it doing so in BG2 either).

i wonder is it better to have at level 1 dual wielding ** for example 2x katana ** or 2handed sword ** and two handed weapon style **

thaco for the first one would be lower
plus two handed weapons is +1 dmg +critical hit at 19

i don't know how to do math like this for effective use of weapons ;P

    Dual wielding katanas:
    Average damage per round= [5.5(base)+2(specialization)]x5/2 APR=18.75

    Two-handed sword:
    Average damage per round= [5.5(base)+2(specialization)+1(weapon style)]x1.05(weapon style)x3/2 APR= 13.3875

These are very simplified results, as they assume that every attack is a hit. In reality the two numbers would be closer, as you're going to be hitting less often with the offhand katana. I think that actually taking into account differences in THAC0 is pretty much impossible unless you're doing it on a case by case basis, looking at the ACs of specific enemies.

so you can compare for example dual katana vs worg
    2handed sword vs worg

    than something tanky like wyvern
