BG2:EE Easter Eggs and Cameo Appearances

With all the Drizzt discussion lately, it has got me thinking about other characters that could make an appearance in BG2:EE. Would you be okay with some new and exciting Easter Egg characters? Would that be against the vanilla feel of BG2? If there are Easter Eggs, should they be killable, for powerful gear and artifacts?

It's up to you in this poll! And while you are at it, lets think of some really good ones that could be added!

*Pharaun Mizzrym *Ryld Argith *Artemis Entreri *Belwar Dissengulp
(Sorry my experiences end at the Drizzt and War of the Spider Queen novels)

    1. Yes! The more Easter Eggs the better! As long as they don't drop anything powerful.

    2. Yes! But they should be really hard, and drop good gear for the effort.

    3. No. I don't want any more Cameo appearances. That would not be true to the game.

    4. No. But I would be okay with a passing comment about someone from another game/book.

    5. No. And I wish they would get rid of the ones that are already in the game. They are distracting, and break immersion.

    6. What's an Easter Egg? Can I eat it?

I wouldn't mind more appearances, but would probably prefer them to be a bit like the BG2 Jarlaxle encounter, i.e. you interact with them but can't fight them.

I like the little things like Garrick trying to woo that one woman outside the order of the Radiant Heart. Little things like that give the game world so much more life.

I believe in the files for SoA (at least according to these boards if I am remembering correctly), Artemis Enteri was originally supposed to make an appearance in Chapter 6 to help with a certain issue the party faces.

As someone who hasn't read any FR novels (and doesn't particularly plan to) I'm OK with any little cameos as long as they make sense and are well-written. If that's the case, then it's still enjoyable for everyone, regardless of background knowledge. If not, you've just disrupted the game and left me saying "huh?"

No reason you would encounter Pharaun or Ryld or any of those. Unless they are friends of Baeloth in The Black Pits 2 or whatever, and even then would make more sense for it to be other random drow.

Easter Eggs are fine, but random appearances by people from novels that aren't otherwise major characters of the realms is not. Cadderly is one that made some sense, as he was a friend of Gorion, is the Chosen of a god of knowledge, and was in the best library in the realms.

No need to take existing ones out, but Drizzt and Jarlaxle were just there for name recognition.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the interest in this thread. It's my first poll ever, and I thought it was a good question. =)

Any other easter egg ideas? What about items that give a nod towards characters?

Ex: House Baenre Piwafwi / De'vir's Facial Balm (Acid Resistance =D) / Hun'ett's Deadly Crossbow

Well, if you're going like that, you've got Montolios clasp, Shurrupak's plate, and so on. Then the Torment and Icewind Dale merchants with their expensive, overall average (aside from Robe of Vecna), but otherwise named after characters from the other games. I think items like that are fine.

Now that we know the release date, I'm hoping one of the Devs will drop a tease in this thread. Totally not a shameless bump. =)

I want to meet Shandril Shesshair and Narm! ...and that dwarf dude. Give Elminster a break, poor mage is probably tired!

I'm fine with cameos, but dedicated encounters specifically designed to showcase "famous" characters... maybe not so much.

Oh and: there's mods that restore Artemis Entreri's appearance in Chapter 6. It's nothing big, but apparently it was something originally intended anyway.

It would be fine in my book.Regarding gear there's already a great amount of gear in BG2 to pick up as it is anyway but i'll go with the flow.
