The sole pantheon change in the 4th edition I lukewarm welcomed was that Asmodeus is finally a full fledged deity again.
[Rant] I still hate that the 4th edition destroyed everything which the great Planescape campaign setting stood for with a passion: Ending the eternal Bood War, which was never supposed to end? Relocating both the whole Abyss and Limbo underneath some fancypants Elemental Plane of Chaos, which didn't even exist before? Turning the great noble race of Tanar'ri into goddamn elementals?! Really... just what did the guys over at WotC smoke to get these countless terrible ideas all at once...?
And the reason for all that was... what? The murdering of Mystra? How many times was the god of magic now killed at this point anyway? Two times? Three times? Yeah, I really fail to see why something badly written like the Spellplague should even happen in the first place! [/Rant]
Mystra has died twice. The first time she passed on her portfolio was in the time of Netheril, when Karsus tried to become a deity and decided to steal Mystryl's powers and portfolio. Mystryl sacrificed herself to save the Weave and thus, Magic itself. She then became Mystra, who died during the time of the troubles, and her portfolio passed to Midnight, who also took the name "Mystra". Midnight-Mystra also died. I view Mystryl's end as a sacrifice rather than a deliberate death, so I don't count it in the total.
My favorite deity is Nobanion (after Selune, which was already taken several times above). Deity of Lions, also known as Lord Firemane and King of the Beasts. (You know... me and cats... what can I say?)
I don't acknowledge anything 4th ed. Mystra among others is alive and well, no Spellplague, everything is as it was prior to this abomination. I just wish Cyric would be totally destroyed with no chance of ever coming back. Couldn't stand him when he was human and can't stand him as a god.
