Baldurs Gate, IWDale, PS: Torment Remake them All!!!

So I was thinking and I know this has already gone through Trent "The God" Oster's mind once before. Why not forget baldurs gate 3 and instead just remake Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Planescape Torment and BG 2. By the time you guys are done you will have made more than enough of your share. Am I right? If anything we will all buy it but there will likely be a few people who will buy off the way. By a few I mean 10s of thousands.

Tell me this has gone through their heads already.

    A few problems with that;
first is that every IE engine game they redo will sell less than the one before, and the guys paying for it don't like those kinds of strategies.
second is that the most talented people at Overhaul will leave because they want to create games, not just remake them all the time.

I do agree with you that I would love it if someone did it.

So what will they do then? Will they release/work on BG 3 with the current design they have for the first 2 games?

I'd rather see a new IWD than a remake.

There was originally going to be a little Morte cameo in the Black Pits but the gods forbade it.

@PhillipDaigle I thought the saying went as such: If your god gives you lemons, FIND YOURSELF A NEW GOD, or something like that :)

Ohhh! Now there is an idea I had not thought of. While recently talking about IWD EE, this idea didn't come up. They wouldn't have to worry about touching a timeless classic story (BG), and would still be able to be creative and focus on a good kickin ass game. I like this :)

huh? what do you mean "this kind of strategy"?
What is wrong with updating and re-releasing classic and really good old games?

I would like to emphasize that I would really really really prefer a BG III or another new game in the spirit of it.

BG and BGII are games that could definitely use a lot of polish and I'm grateful for it. But nothing gives me a rush more than the first time I play through a great new game. :)

I wish I could have just selectively removed all memory of BG and BG2 before i played the enhanced edition.

IWD would be the best choice for the next EE game! Also it would be really easy to inject some new content into it like HoW and TotLM did.

I'd be super excited about this, actually. It's a new entry in a beloved IE series without the overly restrictive story considerations of BG.

edit: Whoops, in my excitement I totally overlooked the fact that @CoryNewb made this exact point already. I guess this idea is just too awesome for me to, you know, read the thread.

I mean that updating all the IE games requires people with money risking that money. The financial backers would ask what the point of doing all the games is, as each successive game is not likely to gain enough new customers to replace those that are lost. Each update is riskier for their money than the last. The kind of people who put down the money for such things are not generally reckless enough to go for such a plan just to give people like you and me warm fuzzies in our hearts.

Make combustible lemons and throw them at life's house.

...wait. House of Life/Spirit House = Body...
