Birthdays on Toril...

It might sound slightly juvenile but would people celebrate occasions such as this in the Forgotten Realms? Is there more need for it among the lower classes than adventurers?

this IS a PARTY based game after all.
Most of the more civilized parts of Toril have a pretty well recognised calendar, the most quoted one being Dale Reckoning. So I would have thought most people in Toril would celebrate their birthdays.
Charname: "But...I don't want to. I'm so full, and it's too sweet..."
Irenicus: "Fool! How will you ever realize your full potential if you cannot even master the power of frosting?"
Charname: "Please don't... Don't make me...!"
Irenicus: "Now... EAT THE CAKE."
Charname: "NOOOOOOOO!"

I also think it hast to do with the living conditions in the Forgotten Realms. With all the crime running around and medieval-esque style of living, not a lot of people tend to live that long, especially adventurers. Celebrating a birthday is kinda like cheerfully declaring, "Hey! You survived another year! Congratulations! Here's hoping for good luck this year!" Though on a less-grim note, there's also nothing strange or out of place about wanting to celebrate the day you were born into the world.
