New "Write Scroll" Button Bugged

Hey all, running with the newest update (v1.0.2028), the one that includes the new feature to colour-code scrolls you've scribed and disable the "Write Scroll" button. Love the feature by the way.

Unfortunately, the new feature has a bug. To reproduce:

(this happened with Edwin, but may happen with other characters too)
- Have two scrolls in your inventory, one scribed, one not.
- Right click on scribed scroll. The Write Scroll button is correctly disabled.
- Right click on non-scribed scroll. The Write Scroll button remains disabled. This is in error.

Note that you CAN still click the disabled Write Scroll button, and the spell does indeed seem to be scribed. See screenshots for more detail.

Edit: Looks like uploading two of the screenshots failed. If you have a look at the file names, though, they tell you which order to view them in.

Anyway, this had already been reported and it's also in the Top Ten Issues thread.

Oops. Sorry Alnair. I did look for bugs regarding scrolls, but I must have missed it.

I can confirm this with my main character. Write scroll button is grayed with non-scribed scroll.

Oh, don't be: to quote @Troodon80, «better to be too thorough than not thorough enough» (hey now, that's a mouthful!) :)

We're working on a solution for this. For the moment, if anyone's feeling adventurous, open up Baldur.ini and find this line:

'Program Options', 'All Learned Spell Info', '1',

Change the 1 to a 0, and the "Write Magic" button will be hidden for any scroll that you cannot write into your spellbook (for any reason).

If we made that the default, would that be acceptable to people? (Rather than greying out the button, that is.)

@Dee: If there is no "known" or "legit" way that the write button could be hidden for scrolls that you CAN write (aka, temporary or permant bugs or glitches), I'm all for it! :) Gonna test it out tonight... (If I have new spells to write!)

And, for the records, if you cannot write it, you shouldn't even have a greyed button! You can't write it, no button! :) Anyway, that's what I think!

Edited: Tested a couple of scrolls and everything works fine!

    Works for me, Dee!

@Dee Not to be a stick in the mud, but I disagree. A low intelligence could be keeping a person from writing the scroll, and not even displaying the button might make them think it is either a bug or a scroll not applicable to them. Greying out the button is a more clear indication that they currently do not meet some criterion to scribe the scroll, but _could_ in the future. Not to mention, the default game displayed the button regardless, and I think a less-is-more approach to change default behavior is appropriate (obviously a judgment call).

    @agris
In that case, would you want a message displayed to explain why they can't write it, or do you still think the "greyed out" button is best?

@Dee for sure, if clicking the grey button resulted in a pop-up telling you "you currently do not meet the minimum XYZ for scribing this spell" appeared, it would remove some confusion.

Scrolls for other classes have that red-tint to them in the inventory, right? So there shouldn't be confusion about a mage trying to scribe a cleric scroll.

It's also the same problem if characters want drink a potion.
