bug (1.2) - deleted quick saves

17651765 Member Posts: 71
So I started up v1.2 today, paying it for the 1st time loaded up my quick save all good. Went to reload and it was gone.

Game seems to delete my quicksave, somewhat annoying lol

recreated it by loading an old save, quicksaving and then trying to load that quicksave, does not appear on the load list

Checked in save game folder: creating a quicksave works, it saves and generates the proper folder, but when I go to load it its gone, deleated from the folder.

lol serious bug you guys.

Prior to this patch, were you running the game in Compatibility Mode? Open up the Properties window for Baldur.exe and take a look at the Compatibility tab.

Just checked and its a nope

Little more info: if I load a named game and quicksave, that will appear on the load screen, but if I load the quicksave and then quicksave, when i bring up the load screen there is no quicksave.

e: also if i quicksave after already having quicksaved after loading a named save

Check the security permissions on the Saves folder, and particularly the Quick Save; does anything look out of the ordinary there?

    permissions:
Save folder: everything ticked allow except "special permissions" for SYSTEM
    000000001-Quick-Save: the same

until I re-save after loading a quicksave, then I get this:

    when clicking on 000000001-Quick-Save:

    When looking at security permissions:

    help welcome :)

The same thing happens to me. The autosave folder is also deleted. I was actually worried this might be a feature. I'm not sure when deletion actually occurs. I changed areas, keeping a look at my quicksave folder in the background and it got deleted when it made the Autosave. Then I tried making other quicksaves but they never happenned even though the game told me it did.

I'm running windows 7 64-bit, with an intel HD 3000 integrated graphics on a year old Sony VAIO E-Series laptop. Not running in compatibility mode, permissions seem the same to me for all the folders in the save folder. Saving works fine, just not quick and auto.

That said, mighty good job on this patch. I'm really impressed.

Happened to me too @Dee . I only just downloaded the patch. Will make a ticket. My portrait folder was also left blank. All other folders were left as is.

If you have lost a game. You can retrieve by restoring an older version of the folder (win 7 users will be able to do this, not sure on other operating systems)

Also not using any mods or shadowkeeper, so its not the shadowkeeeper related problem others were having.

@Anduin which is fine for retrieving disappeared stuff, but not being able to quicksave is a bummer.

From those screenshots this looks like a permissions problem. Have you tried using "run as administrator" option on the compatibility tab for Baldur.exe?

    one more thing:
when in game the first time I Quicksave the game will hang slightly as it saves, says "game saved" and this generates a Quicksave folder in my saves folder. the next time I quicksave it doesn't hang at all, still says "game saved" and the quicksave folder is gone from my saves folder. So while it does say game saved, I guess nothing is actually happening as it doesn't have that slight "hang"

(running as w/ admin privileges doesn't change anything, I wish it did)
