Hello

I'm trying to replace the speech of an npc in BGEE. One thing I'm having trouble with is locating the text that appears when you click on a npc(pc)/or move them etc, this does not seem to be in the "dialog" file that I have been able to locate.

If anyone could help me with the location of this data it would be greatly appreciated. I'm using DLTCEP to look though all the files.

thanks

This text isn't on the dlg file, but on the cre file (sound select common).

Slight problem I'm having. Located the *.cre entry, altered and saved them (save creature) as e.g. Imoen.cre, imoen6.cre in the override folder, but the text is not updating in game. Any ideas what I'm missing or doing wrong?

Are you trying to alter the text of a game already in progress? If so, you need to edit the Imoen in your saved game. Once you meet an NPC, they are copied into your game. So, editing the .cre file would only affect a character you haven't met yet.

I thought it could be a problem with a game in progress and did create a new game, but the text was still not changed in the new one.
I'm putting saving the *.cre in the main directory /override folder where all the other override files are as well.
Any other ideas on the problem? ^^

If you don't get texts, the problem may be how you handled the dialog.tlk file to get DLTCEP to update it with your new texts.
The game uses dialog.tlk in lang\. DLTCEP edits dialog.tlk in the main directory. If you did a copy of lang\ to the main directory (and not a link), the game is not seeing your changes.
