Half-Orc = boring boring boring. Dorn is good. I just can't see myself role-playing a bloody Half-Orc. They're very boring, I mean what are you going to do besides some sort of Fighter? Nothing, that's what.
Dwarf for me. I just never really could get into dwarves in any game. Other than that, I tend to play them all to some degree or the other, although I really do like gnomes the most when all is said and done, and not in a power-gamer sense. Someone posted earlier that they couldn't picture gnomes as adventurers, even though LOTR showed that halflings could pull it off. When I play gnomes, I tend to play them as described in 1st and 2nd edition, focusing especially on the sense of mischief and curiosity. There's plenty of incentive for adventuring gnomes when you play up on those qualities, or their love of gems for that matter. I admit that the "tinker gnome" concept that has become more prevalent since DragonLance never appealed to me, and in fact tends to irritate me more often than not.
I admit to also having a soft spot for the two half-breeds. I just wish the half-orcs were a little closer to the original AD&D concept, since they were originally intended to represent those that could almost pass for human (and their premier class was assassin), not the hulking brutes they later became. That was when I first played the race, and I still tend to think of them that way -- strong and sturdy, but more cunning and underhanded as opposed to out-and-out brutes. I admit to being sorely tempted to try out a half-orc assassin on my next full series run, just for old times sake.
You heard me right, I'd rather have a tumble with a gnome than a half-orc.
@Quartz Your comment reminds me of a time I played NWN multiplayer with a friend of mine, and we visited the brothel. We found out that only one of us could be with the human girl (the game sets a flag that makes her unavailable after someone visits her), so my friend suggests I visit with the gnome in the brothel. I told him something like, "No thanks", and he said something like, "Imagine how tight it would be!", which just kind of left me speechless.

Hm, the three races I've never played are elf, halfling, and gnome. Elf and gnome have their uses, but I can't think of many situations where I would want to be a halfling over any of the other options. Maybe as a thief, but I really like doing half-orc thieves for the 19 strength right off the bat.

I tried that for 15 seconds. Just look how that seemingly 2m half Orc tries to hide in the shadows... that's like askeing the marshmellow man to do a quick hide behindthe bush... So it was hilirous for 15 seconds, and that was that. No more Half-Orc thiefs.
I would never play anyone with the "new race" introduced due to the micromanagement of cursed items. Which is by the way an unneeded and stressful game mechanic.
I basically only play elves, half-elves or humans. Might try a dwarf or half-orc, but not really likely. Would never play halflings or gnomes. I don't have anything against them, I just wouldn't like roleplaying such a character.
Gnomes aren't very popular at all! I thought this would be a very balanced poll, with each race having it's own fan base.
I voted for gnomes, because I cannot recall any memorable gnome characters, be they from books, or television, or video games. The first thing that comes to mind are those awful garden gnome ornaments that are associated with older folks gardens.
Half-elves because the only things they have going for them are the Fighter/Druid and Cleric/Ranger multiclasses. Everything else is done better by elves and dwarves.

The reason you can't seem to remember gnomes, like Quayle? Can't have anything to do with being to short and without much presense - no way. xD
I have to admit, even though I do see some benefits for a gnome llu, I never made it to he first inn. What would the people say if they see me? xD

30 % resistance to sleep and infrared are better then plain old human, the question about multi or dual class is just the deciding factor. But we both agree, halflings are the winner of this poll (they even pretended to be gnomes to get more votes)
I haven't actually played anything other than elves or the occasional half-elf in this series, though that may have more to do with my elf crush than my dislike of the other races.

I've never recruited Quayle, due to having each previous party pretty much set in stone by the time I have reached Baldur's Gate. Tiax, suffers similarly. He is also evil, and I have never ran an evil playthrough that far.
Oh my gosh, I play all the races to be honest. ._. I prefer to play through BG with my own Custom Party. I find it better to fit my RPG ways! ^^ Half-Orc is my #1 Race; can't beat that Cleric/Thief combo, in my own opinion. Those destructive 93 rolls I keep getting, yummy! I personally believe Half-Orcs to have the best options and stats. (Though, naturally, you can't help but want to be able to play any class on any race! ^^)

I usually always play gnomes. In my current game I've changed Imoen into a gnome, and it suits her personality alot.
I take it you are among those who refer to that as "The Complete Book of the Master Race".

Perhaps a new gnome NPC should be in order.
