#7015 [HEXXAT] - Casque of Dragomir cannot be removed?

edited November 2013 in BGII:EE Bugs (v1.2.2030)
While I really like the new thief, I left her at the Copper Coronet because I'm doing an all-good playthrough.

Problem is, an item that her quest added to my inventory - the Casque of Dragomir - cannot be removed. I've tried adding her again to my party to see if I could move it to her inventory (I couldn't) and even tried ee keeper to see if it would remove it (it wouldn't).

I suppose if I have to go all the way through BG2 and TOB with this thing in my inventory I will, but it seems like this shouldn't be intended. An item that can't be dropped I could understand, but I wasn't expecting my own helmet-shaped version of Boo.

Any fix?

Yep, this is not intended -- it'll be fixed in the first patch.

Thanks for the quick reply! Any way to get EE keeper to recognize it - and thus remove it - in the meantime? (it currently throws up an error)

    That'd be a question for @Troodon80 I'm afraid!

Near Infinity recognizes it easily enough. hrm...it doesn't have the "droppable" flag, which is why you are having trouble getting rid of it. Correct that flag then reload your game and you shouldn't have any problems.

Well....okay--you have me there. That would require going into the save game file to edit the item there.

I'm not really sure what the problem is. Could you archive and attach your save game, then we can go from there. :)

    @Purudaya,

In regards to this post, the item in Hexxat's inventory is not marked with the Undroppable flag, so correcting the item itself does actually work. Here's the edited item attached, just (extract it, obviously) copy it to your override folder (if you don't have one, then create one); I've already tested it to make sure. :)

Ignore the previous request for the save game.

This has just happened to me. She joins the party so I can complete the quest, I remove her from the party and I acquire the iremovable Casque. I can't remove the thing, can't move it about. It's red and just sits there like a big inconvenience.

@toonu Drop the item file that @Troodon80 posted in your override folder. The Casque is then movable. As has already been posted there will be a permanent fix in the first patch. :)

... it wasn't intended to be glued to her inventory? I thought it was how her vampire traits were coded, lol. I mean, seeing how various NPCs have unremovable items that code their special abilities, maybe that was the way for her too.

The Casque is meant to be unremovable -- from Hexxat's inventory. It should not transfer to the PC's inventory. :)

Ooh, lol didn't notice that bit.

I did install the patch and the item is still there. Do I really have to start a new game in order to get rid of the item? Playing on a MAC, hence I dont know if I can follow the modification solutions.

Her Vampire abilities, getting hurt in the sun, etc. etc. all that I believe is coded into her amulet, which she also can't remove.

Why don't you guys just use EE Keeper to remove the item from the inventory ? Is it really needed to mod the game ?

    I have the same problem.

Edit: Mind you, with the exception that I could easily remove it in EEkeeper and add it to her inventory instead.

Turns out I was wrong about this - yes, the bug exists, but you can in fact remove it via EE keeper. It didn't work for me because EE keeper would load my saves, but was only loading partial resources (NOT including the casque of dragomir) due to me not having copied over my dialogue file.

tl;dr: The problem should be easily solvable as long as you have all of the components necessary for EE Keeper to work like it's supposed to :P

Awesome...I just came across this "issue" where Hexxat would no longer join me as my rep was too high and that damn casque was stuck in my inventory. This (the file for the Overide folder) fixed it!

Ah, thank you @Troodon80 for this fix. I don't want anything to do with Hexxat, I even killed her after leaving the tomb but she apparently respawned and this item became stuck in my inventory. Should I remove the file afterwards?
  • Troodon80Troodon80 Member, Developer Posts: 4,110
    @LundmaN, it's entirely up to you. :-)

If you do decide to remove the file afterwards and you need it in the future, you can just copy it back to the override folder.

Well I was thinking it might be smart to remove the file so I don't accidently remove essential items since this is my first playthrough. Does the file change something else or is it just a change to the Casque of Dragomir item?
  • Troodon80Troodon80 Member, Developer Posts: 4,110
@LundmaN, just the Casque. It sets the 'movable' flag.

OK first I can't progress with Dorn's quest, now I'm having problems with Hexxat's. Instead of making a new thread, I thought I would reply to this one. I am so frustrated right now.

    Two questions:

    1) Where do you download official patches for the game?

    2) Did you receive the Casque when removing Hexxat from party or when she first joined? I have her in my party but I never received any such item. I am attempting the first quest in Drogomir's Tomb. I just killed him, and used the cylindrical rod but so far nothing else has happened.

@LiamEsler apologies for drawing your attention, but I doubt this thread has much publicity anymore. I'm pretty sure this was fixed in the first patch, as I had the Casque lodged in my inventory for part of my 1st playthrough, but somehow it got removed. This bug has occurred for me again in my 2nd playthrough, so... What do I do? :(
  • LiamEslerLiamEsler Member Posts: 1,859
@recklessheart Easiest way is to Shadowkeeper it away -- it's definitely been fixed, but it may be in the next patch rather than the previous one.
  • recklessheartrecklessheart Member Posts: 692
@LiamEsler Lacking that particular download, what alternative solutions are there? :) PS. Thank you for the hasty reply!
  • IllydthIllydth Member, Developer Posts: 1,641
@recklessheart: The bug is still listed in the Consolidated Reported Issues thread, it's still in game...has not been fixed to the public (there are a slew of fixed bugs that are not in a patch yet).

Lacking the ability to EE Keeper modify your save to get rid of the thing, you have 2 options:

    1) Deal with it till the patch comes out.
    2) Post a saved game here and let someone EE Keeper it out for you.

That said, if you start up a third game and get the same issue, then you're going to have the same options above. :)

That's why the recommendation is to download EE Keeper (there's a thread here on the boards maintained by @Troodon80 who is the current maintainer of the code and a mod here) and fix it yourself...that way any new games you start that has the same issue you can fix.
