Shields!

Bring back the BG1 shield styles... from when shields weren't all oblong weird unpractical thingies! Round shields, Square shields, that kind of thing.

    They are implementing the 1pp mod that have components which restore buckler/small shield/medium shield animation, I hope they will implement those components.

    i hope they will improve some of those animation though; maybe I tested an early version.. yet I remember it to be quite "laggy" due to them not having enough "frames".

    Yeah, I much prefer the shield looks from the first game.

    While this doesn't bring anything to the table, I would also love having the old shields. A "tower" shield in BG2 just didn't seem that massive to me, and you couldn't really hide behind it (in this man's opinion) to cover under an arrow rain. A great tent as well. And an awesome slip-n-slide.

    I agree apart from the BG2 medium shield, which I really like.

    I agree, BG2 did have some very add shield shapes. I liked the simple Circle, Square, and Arrowhead style shields in the first BG. I really do hope that not too much is changed from the old BG, only added.

    Odd* I assume everyone is talking about the purple shiled with like 6 weird spikes going off in different directions from BG2.

    I do not look forward to flaming swords there. Assuming they want to make the game cheesy like WoW or FF then fine.

    Well considering I'm talking about the "flame blade" spell clerics get and their original bg1 animation I think it will be fine.

    I suppose that the spells which give mages/clerics flaming swords should have that animation, but I don't want every magical sword of fire to have trails. Too predictable.

    If I remember correctly, the swords which inflicted fire damage, didn't have a trail, but rather glowed with an orange hew. The spells were the only ones that had flames to them outside of Xan's sword.

    I don't remember any flame swords other than the spells in BG1, were there any?

    There is one, Flaming Long Sword +1 from Durlag's Tower if I remember correctly. I remember getting it from vanilla TotSC at least.

    I also much preferred the armour and shield designs from BG1 over those of BG2

    Same here! The plate armors looked a lot bulkier.. and therefore more badass ;). As for the shields, I agree on that one as well. I'm having a hard time picturing someone using BG2 style shield in real life, but the ones in vanilla BG1 are very easy to imagine.

    BG1 designs were simpler, darker, grittier, more "real-life" to me. Most of the equipment was to fancy/flashy for me in BG2.

    Well, the flaming sword effect on xan's moonblade is what made it look so badass.

    The platemail +1 was my favorite armor. Not the best by far, but the color it had was great! The best Shining Armor for any White Knights. :)

    And the Helm of glory was pretty cool too. Actually, I loved how the helms looked in BG1. And the fact that you had non magical ones with the look available. Not sure why everyone is talking about flaming swords? Shillelagh was much better spell. :P

    I agree. The armor was so simple yet it looked so badass. Also the helmets in BG1 really did look way cooler, I often let Ajantis join my party just to kill him for his helmet. LOL. And the flaming fist helmets were pretty cool too.

    Kagain's helm is my favorite! I think it shares the same shape with Kiel's helm, and the Helm of Glory, though the colors might be different. I have to agree that armors and helms looked much cooler. Less Fantasy perhaps, but so much more realistic. :)

    BG1 shields all the way. Hated the BG2 style shields. Ugly.

    Sorry for topic refresh. So, what it's gonna be? BG2 style shields in game and BG1 Style shield in papperdolls or what? I'm confused allready, couse didnt get an clear, official answer yet.

    I think the plan is to use BG1 avatars and shield sprites.
