How long is it supposed to take to join a game?

I'm trying the Beamdog servers for MP for the first time with a friend. I see a message 'Joining Selected Session... This may take a while, please wait.'

I've been looking at this screen for a good 5mins... how long is it supposed to take?

    It should be almost instant I think.

    I've never seen it work if you just wait for that long, if it's still waiting after a minute, i cancel (or crash).
