More the beamdog way of making things hard for you. Make mobs run around like retards (the terrible engine in the game makes hitting people who walk away really hard, even with haste), pop potions twice per round in most cases and have absurd THAC0 values that are higher than that of fire giants in Tob :p

But like the guys above here mentioned, you just have to bring the mandatory spell list, you get very VERY little chance of using any kind of "lesser" spells in BG, even at core/normal level.

And expect every mob in the new content to beat the shit out of your characters, so you will need tons of buffs, potions and good tactics to beat the retarded encounter design :-)

    Have fun

Well I massacred them with the door crowd control and summons etc etc, then I beat Lenneth's butt and she retreated to an inner chamber, then some dialogue played where I didn't want to risk that King's life, but finally Neera told me to attack, so now I've killed a Red Wizard and two fighters, but where is Lenneth ?

I can't open the right door cause it's locked and cannot be picked and I did loot the left room and got all 3 quest books/letters.

Lenneth likes to run all over the place popping invis potions all day long to force a little game of cat and mouse. Blow some detection and check every little corner of the place, you should find her.

She has everything you need to finish up the place. :-)

Lol yeah now I found her and killed her in a few seconds. She had gone too far back than I'd have thought.

EDIT: No wait, she went invisible again, lol

LMAO Neera wild surged and got the hickups.

Also, Lenneth got chunked, finally ! :-D

EDIT: I had about 85000 and now I have 20000, what the heck, I don't remember spending that, is there some wild surge that makes you poorer ?
  • Yep. There's actually a wild surge that makes you lose all of your gold, if you're not paying attention you can lose hundreds of thousands in a single spell cast.

Any weapon with elemental damage is very useful vs mages. Stoneskin does not stop elemental damage so you can interupt spellcasting if you keep hitting the mage with said weapon. Flail of the Ages +3/+4 is an excellent anti mage weapon. Holy Avenger +5 is also another great weapon since it dispels on hit. it makes mage fights a doozy when they have no stoneskin

For Lanneth i make sure i close all the doors in the room before the one you fight her in. NPCs cannot open doors so it makes it alot easier to catch her and club her over the head then drag her back to your cave :p

So according to my calculations Neera just cost me about 80000 gold. And she didn't even conjure a Golden Golem or something ...

Gold is pretty superfluous in these games, though.

I bought several pieces of OP equipment from the Adventurer's Mart. Also, I've spent more money for my fighter's stronghold than I make :-)

    All for the XP !!

Also this one time I gave a beggar a shiny gold coin for info on a quest.

While true in this case, there are NPCs elsewhere in the game that can open doors.

In the last part of Neera's ToB quest, there are multiple guards and other enemies that can and will open doors to adjoining rooms if you let them, causing all manner of trouble.
