Hi All, I've just started this character ST18/58 DE12 CO12 IN18 WI10 CH18 Which of these abilities would you have changed and why? One condition is that I want to see all story dialogue.
Hi All Really appreciate all this help, I actually decided to reroll am now a Gnome ST 18/53 DE18 CO18 IN19 WI9 CH9 GamingFreak: I REALLY appreciate yours nd the helpful posts of all of you here What a great community, you're a credit to the internet! I'm sure I'll be back for more advice shortly!
@mylegbig Actually, @elminster has it right. I just doubled-checked an Elf in both BGEE and BG2EE, the THAC0 bonus only shows up for long swords and short swords; other bladed weapons are not getting a racial bonus. Unless the display is bugged, the Elven bonus has been properly constrained.
Hmm, maybe it's because I was using a save imported from vanilla BG2.
Your Wisdom and Charisma are waaaay too high. So high I need to just comment on it. From a role-play standpoint, they're decent scores, but your Charisma could have just been used as a dump-stat and put those points towards something else entirely (like your Dex/Con!). There's actually a level 1 spell for mages that can give you 18 Charisma for a period of time, making putting points in Charisma extremely useless on a Fighter/Mage.
A minor point, but I'm fairly certain that Friends is +5, not set to 18.
On a broadly related side question, is Wisdom more important to a Mage than intelligence?
You only need Intelligence to learn spells, and to determine maximum spells known, but with 15 Intelligence and a single potion of genius, you can scribe infinite spells known of any level. Meanwhile with Wisdom, you're potentially getting use out of it every single day if you like to cast Limited Wish.

Depends on the situation. In the OP's case his main character isn't going to be able to use limited wish until the character has 3,000,000 total xp. For a dual class or single class mage wisdom would be a lot more relevant.
Also, even 9 starting wisdom is enough to use Limited Wish effectively if you go through BG1. You only miss out on Time Stop (one-time wish) and the spell rememorization (low levels only) but you get all the other stuff - the quest, all the items, mass NPP, mass minor globe, etc.
Wish resting can be useful but it's only important at one point in the game so you can just chug potions when you want to do it. It takes some setup or reloading anyways because it's not a guaranteed thing. 18 wisdom just makes it a bit easier.
I am currently playing a F/M as well. I got a good roll and distributed as such. STR: 13, DEX: 17, CON: 18, INT: 17, WIS: 10, CHA: 15
I realize those attributes are not allocated as efficiently as they could be, but I can use magic and potions to bolster STR in those difficult moments. I'm enjoying it thus far. I have never played a F/M nor a Bard, so it's new ground for me.
The most difficult decision was to lower CHA from 18! Charisma is one of my favorite attributes, even with BG somewhat curtailing its use.
you get a ring in BG2 that automatically sets your Charisma to 18, so there's another thing that can convince you to take less Charisma. Charisma is far more important in BG1 anyway, when certain NPCs would actually give you stuff if you had a higher charisma; plus there's always shop prices, which are based off of Charisma and Rep.
While it totally makes sense from a RP respective to roll a high charisma as the leader of the group, it's totally unnecessary as a whole.
I'm going through BG2 with F/I where I think the original stats were all 18 except 5 cha and 14 wis pretty good roll then all of the bonuses from bg1...
Still SCS + insane difficulty are kicking my ass sometimes and I definitely didn't reload enough for max hp level ups...
Stoneskin+ mirror image + spell immunity are pretty much standard for every fight...
