Hey, I was just wondering if Harpell still came and took back Drizzt's weapons if you killed him/he died in the Bodhi fight?

Probably. I think the Harpell script runs if you have the items in your inventory (could be wrong though). Actually I bet I know someone who would know for sure. Oh, @bbear!

I don't remember the guy's name, but he did show up to demand some item back from me after I defeated Bodhi. I didn't even realize that one of Drizzt's companions had died, and looted some random whatever thinking it was off one of Bodhi's minions.

Malchor Harpell... He might just be the worst thing about BG2. You can't kill him, but he can definitely kill you and your party with his cheese script.

Regardless your encounter with Drizzt (kill him/leave him alone/request his help), as soon as you exit Bodhi's lair into the Athakla graveyard map, Malcor Harpell will dimension door himself in if you have Drizzt or his companion's equipments. He is pretty chill the first time and repos all of Drizzt and his companions' stuff.

The next time, however, he'll mass imprison your party. In the original BG2, he cant be killed normally and follows you everywhere as soon as you enter a new map in Athlaka. Even if you kill him using exploits (mind drain/level drain), he'll just respawn when you travel to a different place. Not sure whether this "bug" has been fixed yet.

There are other bugs with supposedly "immortal" characters. For example, the infinite respawning elven mages at the entrance of the underdark will kill the pc if an elf has been attacked by non-drows.

(There are battles between elves and drows from time to time during revisits at the cave entrance to underdark. Frequently, a drow mage charms an elf, causing him to attack his comrades. At the instant the elf commits a hostile action, the game sees YOU the party has betrayed the elves and spawns an elven mage to kill you. He doesnt even use any attack but he can instantly kill the pc after the scripted conversation. I reloaded 10+ times trying death ward, protection against magical weapons, spell trap, spell turnings and other protections and all failed. I preempted the killed him during timestop, but the next elven mage would spawn and the cycle continues. Technically it's not infinite, but the number of respawns seems to be random. I forgot all the numbers, but it's between 10 - 30 respawns during about the 5 tests I tried. I cited this in the bug report in the original game but there was no solution to this question at the time. Maybe this bug is fixed in the game, or just avoid seeing the drow vs elf surface battle.)

    Oops, sorry I digressed.

Deathscripts, the mark of bad design. Died a similar way on an ironman run... it made me want to gouge my eyeballs out.

The BG2 Tweaks mod allows you to keep the items.
