#7389 [CORE] - Doomsayer spawns every time the Idol is picked up

I started playing evil, but all the NPCs are week idiots, so I decided to make a solo run.
I headed to make secondary quests, and reached lvl5 fighter even before reaching Nashkel, while doing that quest for the diggers, after some defeats I decided to gain some more levels before battling the Doomsayer, so I dropped the Idol, the Doomsayer talked to me and said something in his gribberish like KoZAH Idol "your BitshED moTHEr", and he went inside the cave, I picked up the Idol, and, it spanwed again, I think there is a missing variable.

    @Troodon80 @Jalily I think there is a missing variable after the Doomsayer talks to you and do not attacks because you do not have the idol, so he spawns infinitely, I haven't tried killing him and dropping and picking up the idol.

    It's supposed to respawn as long as you don't kill it. However, there is a bug in that if you speak to it without the idol in your possession and then kill it, it will come back to life. Registered as 7389.

    @CrevsDaak,

    Just so you know, that save game name is awesome. :D

    This looks fine, actually. It requires that you have the idol in order to actually finish the quest. Notice that after the gibberish it says "the idol... will find the idol..." If you don't have the idol then the Doomsayer leaves the area (via the crypt) and will re-spawn when you have the idol in your inventory. Otherwise, if you were to drop the idol and pick it up only to not have the Doomsayer spawn, then you wouldn't be able to 'properly' finish the quest. This can be done over and over again, even getting multiple copies of the Doomsayer to spawn. Once you do talk to it with the idol in your inventory, and do-the-thing-that-needs-to-be-done, the Doomsayer will not/should not re-spawn.

    I think, at least. That question would need someone with knowledge of how the quest is supposed to go, and I can only theorise.

    Edit: and ninja'd, of course.

    @Troodon80 yeah, I know what he says, but after 3 hours more of BG:EE (I didn't stop playing, I reached Cloakwood mines in those 3 hours, and I had some time to read some things and to play a little more in the iPad beta of BG2:EE) I was some lazy and forgot some things.
    The save game name was a little composition to replace my boring "The Valkyrie" name I was using :P, besides, I think this needs a variable, because it could be easily exploited (by me, I couldn't kill him thousand times just because I couldn't kill him at all, I was very low level).

    @Jalily he spawns when I pick up the Idol, every single time, and if left the idol and he talks to me, he says his dialog when you do not have the idol, but if you pick it up again he'll respawn, I will find a way to exploit this, just a look at his saving throws to use insta-kills spells :D.
