[Known 7444] 2 Twinkles Available?

I accidentally discovered that I can get 2 twinkles. I pickpocket the first time I meet Drizzt in the ambush and I ask him to help me defeat Bodhi. Then I pickpocket again in the tomb when he helps me. And to my surprise, another twinkle !!

    Nice Exploit!
Hope they do not find the way to avoid losses in the Selfishness test in Hell by casting Spell Immunity: Divination.... :D
    @CamDawg, can you confirm this?

I'm guessing that Drizzt in the Ambush is a different Drizzt than Drizzt in the tomb.

Trying to figure out how this would get reproduced easily. Obviously I'd need a save just before Drizzt in the ambush so we could get the twinkle there, then I'd need steps to get the characters from there to the tomb quickly so we could pick up the other one.

If you can help me with the saved game and steps, I'll get a bug report filed.

@Illydth Looks like you are right. C6DRIZZ.CRE is the one you find in the ambush and either C6DRIZZ2.CRE or C6DRIZZ3.CRE are the ones you can come across in the crypt.

@elminster, @Gate70: So really, this isn't necessarily a "bug" so to speak. There are technically 2 Drizzt's and thus two different twinkles. I would guess this would require a global variable/status to identify if Drizzt still has his scimitar between meeting C6DRIZZ.CRE and C6DRIZZ[2|3].CRE.

I concur this isn't "right", but I don't know if there's much we want to do about it.

Summoning @LiamEsler? Is this worth a bug report/fix? A second twinkle isn't necessarily game breaking (in BG2 there are far better weapons), and there's obviously no "dupe" bug here. On the other hand, "twinkle" may very well be the most well known weapon in the entirety of AD&D / FR...a second one is breaking "consistency" pretty hard.

@Illdyth We *could* make the second Twinkle undroppable, which would solve the issue? It's a borderline bug. Not one I'm concerned about, probably a C or even D, but not quite right.

I'll pop up a "D" Level bug report.

@elminster, @Gate70: Which would be better to make undropable? The one outside of the tomb or the one in the tomb? I'm not familiar with the content, so at which point would it make more sense to lock out the Scimitar from being obtained?

(my guess is C6DRIZZ.CRE...but I'd prefer someone more knowledgable than I to make that call).

Reported as 7444. I don't think I'm going to track this one as a bug since technically I feel this is as close to a feature request as a bug report.

I really don't have any kind of a position on what should be done about it (if anything)

At my personal judgement, the best solution is to make the Twinkle from Bodhi's Lair undroppeable/unsteleable etc.
If you are evil you tend to kill him in his friendly ambush.

It's actually possible to get 3 twinkles. The Drizzt on the first floor of the crypts is not the same as the one on the second floor, though they both draw from the same CRE file. So you can pickpocket Drizzt in the ambush for a twinkle, pickpocket him when you first meet him in the crypts for a second twinkle, and pickpocket him a third time when you go to the second floor of the crypts for a third twinkle.

I'd agree with @CrevsDaak that the Drizzt in the crypts should be off limits. He won't even fight you if you attack, instead opting to EscapeArea(), so there's not really a good reason his sword should be stealable.
