Spell Disruption?

What is the probability of spell disruption? Sometimes an enemy mage/cleric is disrupted after being hit once. Other times the spell is disrupted after getting hit a few times. Also, does the amount of damage dealt matter?

There are many more, but I think that will give you a good look at the subject.

"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
In BG2, there are certain spells, like triggers, that are designed to be cast automatically and without interruption even when hit.
Does that combo actually work? If so it's awesome...........and tempting
My guess is — perhaps inspired by 3rd Ed. — that some combination of physical stats makes the caster more resilient. That would explain dragons and, maybe, the divine casters who tend to cast uninterrupted more than mages (in my eyes they are tougher — being able to wear armor being the factor).
I think i never failed to interrupt Neira (bounty hunter in nashkel) by using magic missile (even level 1) on her.
On the other hand, as stated by SharGuidesMyHand, Mulahey is very difficult to interrupt. Bassilus resists also quite well.
