Cursed sword of berserking +3

Have you noticed it actually gives you a total of +5 to hit and damage bonus?

That's because it applies an additional +2 damage (not displayed on the character sheet) and +2 to hit, even when you're not berserking around with it.

The most interesting weapon in BG. Brage should be proud.

I might agree that it's one of the most interesting weapons in BG1, but unfortunately, I do not recommend using it.

The berserk state adds +2 to hit and damage.

Also; Why is there never any love for Kiel's Mourning Star?

I've never played with it enough to take notice of how it works. Is it similar to Minsc's rage, where he will generally stop attacking once combat is over and he's chased you a few feet? That style of rage always seems to be a double whammy: you lose control of the character AND they'll start attacking their own guys.

Once I realised what was going on (someone from my party beating the tar out of me), I discovered one could run around another party member in tight circles and the beserker would start hammering them instead.

Are you saying that Ajantis or a Charname/Inquisitor could use Cptn Brage's sword simply as a +3
    2-handed sword without any Berserking??

    Um... Sure. That's the ticket.

Best use of this sword is equipping it when you have to fight Mages in BG1, since they use Fear/Confusion a lot, and Berkserking overrides both of those effects, and you attack until the target dies… which means that it's super effective*!

*unless you're fighting Centeol, because, for some reason unknown to me (and to lots of other people who worked over BG1-in-BG2's-engine projects), when you kill her with this sword, you actually go into an endless Berkserking state effect, which means game over for solo runs (and, it's non dispellable and you can't do anything about it, not even with CRTL+R).

Obviously its because simply hearing the tragedy of her story (when combined with the swords ill effects) drives the character into a fit of rage. :)
